I am a male and I can tell you - I love cooking food and do most of the cooking in our household. I really enjoy making sauces to go with meat dishes and also (because my GF is veggie) I really enjoy experimenting with making food for her which is interesting for her to eat so that she doessnt keep eating tofu and other packaged supermarket stuff
(mcartney burgers or whatever). I have done that for about 10 years now -
I hate cooking for myself though - by the time its cooked I'm fed up of the smell of it - an dont enjoy it as much as if someonelse does it - but sometimes I surprise myself and thats why I do it

Heres a really great tip now
get some black cherries and if youre not veggie - get some duck and when the duck is almost cooked (about 10 mins off) pack a handfull of the cherries all over it and underneath then tip a 1/4 glass of red wine over it- let it cook just a bit longer make sure to break the cherries so the juice comes out
You can do that if you eating tofu but stirfry it with the black cherries from the start
then you need a bottle of Nuit St George to wash it all down with - goes excellent if you make a gravy and add a teaspoon or two of lemonjuice into the gravy

When I am in a relationship the guy usually cooks because even though I am a great cook I hate cooking everday boring stuff. I love cooking things that challenge me though and am a great baker so in our family I usually take the dessert, my mom does the sides, my grandma the finger food and my grandpa the main course and the drinks and my mom and I clear the table and my uncle loads the dishwasher. We're really a pretty systematic family and split the work load up pretty evenly. If I bring a date to a family function and he doesn't jump in and help it's over, I know he won't fit in with my family.

About 50/50, although I think I'm the best cook. My boy is still pretty good though. :)

I enjoy cooking and am quite good at it, but my wife does 90% of it. We laugh at ourselves at how we ended up filling more traditional gender roles. She is a stay at home mom and handles the most of the indoor household duties while I make the money and take care of the outside stuff.

Err... I really feel sorry for whoever ends up with me, because I rarely cook even for myself! I'm just terrible at it. I do the cleaning and fixing of the computers. XD

I only get to see my boyfriend on the weekends :( but we usually share the cooking responsibilities. I think he's a better cook than I am, though!

I live with a roommate, but we're never at home at the same time so I usually cook for myself...

OK, you are invited to MY house. I get so obsessive about it, I can't do it. I would end up screaming at my family, because the nice "clean" I made gets messed up so quickly. I would love to be able to KEEP it nice, but, alas, with such a large family, it doesn't happen, unless I go into uberbitch mode, and I don't want to do that. Can you come and clean for me, as it wouldn't be emotional for either of us? ;)

Mamaboogie, does your dh simply cook the meat, while you do about 20 side dishes, set the table, prepare 3 desserts, sauces, special foods for allergic members of the family AND clean up, and then he says, "Yeah, I cooked the Holiday Meal myself." That's my dh. *sigh* Gotta love 'em anyway.
