Can someone explain to me why blacks and mexicans are ignorant?

 

Well for one thing no matter what you think about it, it is a federal holiday

It's a major day of celebration for Italian-Americans

And even though we know Columbus wasn't the 1st European to come here, the fact was he was the 1st to prove to the populace in general that you could cross the Atlantic and that there was in fact land out there. For better or worse he set in motion the chain of events that lead anyone of any white, black or asian decent to live in north and south america.

 

yeah that might be true about columbus, but all he was was incredibly lucky. maybe give him credit for convincing spain to fund him, idk. but his math was bad, his perceptions were bad, he never knew he found an unknown continent before he died. I guess I could give him credit for disregarding the belief that if he sailed too far, he'd fall off the earth. I think I can give him that.

A lot of people that are ignorant are just a product of their environment anyways

 

the word ignorant sure gets thrown around a lot...it's pry nbd, but I see ignorance as something purposeful; a person is ignorant because he chooses to be so. like a redneck living in an otherwise advanced and civil and tolerant nation. then there's oblivion, which I don't think is done consciously. and ant would be oblivious to the human world, and a member of a secluded tribe in the middle of the malaysian tropics or something would be oblivous to the industrialized world. so I guess my point is that if a person is considered to be ignorant due to an ignorant culture, he would have had to been given the choice to remain ignorant or to grow, but chose the ignorance. a person living in a communist nation that censors everything and prevents the citizens from seeing global facts, would have to be oblivious cuz he had no choice....or maybe he did. pssssh, I think I just took forever to say nothing again. I don't know if there's a distinction or not

 

i hate it too. same w/my school. what i hate the most is that they stand in your way and look at you like your dumb! they have no resect and no manners whatsoever! I'm not a big fan of rap i love 60's,70's,80's,classic rock.
and most of 'em like rap and annything else sucks in their eyes!
i mean they can like what they want but they shouldn't slam other stuff!
i don't like gays (no offense if you are) but i don't slam 'em.
i did once and felt bad then apologized! i don't know how some...no...most people think nowadays! it's soo self absorbed and ignorant.

My post was not about the life and acomplishments or anthing about columbus its that in my post I say that where I live its called native american day. An you go and say what the fuck has columbus done, so how does that not make me think that you agree with changing it to native american day.

You confused me because you contradicted yourself so much in this post.

 

Yes, I was the minority in my inner city high school, and got really sick of reading about blacks so much.
However, I understand that they need a bit more attention at the moment and I had one great history teacher that refused to teach african history in february ('This is World Cultures, Africa is only part of the world, and we aren't quite there yet')

 

Did he get a lot of shit for it?

 

^ actually, he didn't, but a thousand other teachers would get shit for being racist or discriminatory when they were clearly not. One teacher was called a racist for teaching us about slave songs (=S) he was one of my favorites, but later he got fired for letting a kid use his computer.

And then another teacher is absolutely loved by (most of) the blacks, and she's clearly a racist, and only a handful of them see it. She talks like a straight up full on ghetto ****** with that indignant ass ignorant attitude (you know the one) when she is talking to ANY black person. Yet, talks completely normal to all the whites.
I fucking hated that ****.
