My white guilt is crippling. I'm finding it difficult to live a normal life. Fellow whites (99.9% of you are white don't lie), how do you do it? I just watched the movie Dear White People and I feel like I should end it all.
Didn't see the movie. Can't help being white (I was born that way). I'll just have to carry on. /BTW, I love Mexican food.
I'm sure we can find something a little more contemporary Soul Man (1986) starring C Thomas Howell Hotwater
White guilt is a very real thing. A lot of people go out of their way to show they are so NOT racist by kissing black people's asses and acting in a disgustingly superficial and politically correct way when interacting with them. I don't act any different around black people than I do white people, and have no qualms calling a black person out for the way they're acting, as long as it doesn't involve a possible threat to my life. A white person cannot call out the bad behavior in black people without being called a racist, but if you're black you can say whatever you want about white people and it's never racist or even given a second thought. The racial divide in this country can be blamed mostly on so-called liberalism and the agenda it promotes, which actually fuels the destruction seen in society, and especially within the black community. The politically correct mentality is what keeps the very issue of race at the forefront of so many people's minds, and far more than racism as we know it.
Earlier today I held a door open for a few non whites who were about 300 yards away because I was scared they wound start calling me racist and cause a huge scene.
I started getting anxiety while holding it thinking they might say something like "I can open it myself asshole"
No they wouldn’t think you’re a racist, as a matter of fact they would probably think “what a nice guy” You know, as a gesture of good faith and reciprocity, lets boycott Cracker Barrel until they change their name - after all, it’s a racial slur against white people and it shouldn't be tolerated in this day and age. Hotwater
well if you just accept that there is no 'white'. look to the tribal roots of your own ancestors. by white i presume you mean euro-american. but wherever your ancestors came from, they had some kind of tribal roots far enough back. back before any of today's nations even existed. your 'white' ancestors probably weren't all that 'white', once you get far enough back. far enough back everyone know from everyday that they had to somehow live in a world they were not masters of. their villages had to learn where to gather resources and how to do so without destroying their continued availability. all those kinds of things. they were in a place they had to learn from that place how to live in it. they were indiginous to that place. everyone could have had it all, if no one had come up with the idea that having it over someone else was anything to brag about. if you don't want a thing about 'white', don't make a thing about 'white'. there just ain't no such thing anyway.
When people feel guilty about stuff they did not do to a point they have trouble living their life then that seems a fine example of natural selection at work. Disclaimer: seems not race related
What do you feel guilty of, Meli? Any superficial behaviour of a certain group against another is annoying. What about those blacks who blame everything on white people, regardless which white people Really, all such mindsets and the behaviour following out of it is pathetic. Why not perceive superficial behaviour as something coming from that specific person. And not perceive/portray it as a particular trait of that group of people Also I rather see people resorting to positive superficial behaviour (which can merely come from an urge to be polite of course) than negative. I'm not talking about ass kissing and excusing things of course. Spotting superficial behaviour from a white person to some blacks in a public area with an example like rollingstoned used (keep the door open for them) and concluding that was done for this or that reason without verifying it is in the end just as pointless and can be misleading.
