After I bought my girl her rings I was told by someone that whte gold tarnishes quite easily and needs to be fixed by a jeweler quite often. Is there any merit to this and if so, what can we do to avoid it?
I bought a warranty with mine that lets me get it dipped in something every year to make it look nicer... rhodium maybe? But yeah, mine starts to look a bit tarnished and shows little scratches easily. It's not really noticeable unless you're looking really closely.
well white gold aint gold is it, so unfortunatly i dont know, so im as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike
=[ dammit. I didn't get any warranty or anything with them. Oh well I'll just pay for this redip thing then, maybe buy her something a bit better down the line.
But gold is tacky IMO. I hate it. My girl is not wearing tacky gold. -.- she slap me so hard if I did that.
yeah you can get it dipped in rodium as Eggy said. It re-finished the ring. If your girl works with her hands a lot and is going to be wearing it, and it get scratches on it, it is more likely ot be noticeable than if she just types at a comp or something. WOBS, you in yorkshire huh? Im about to be up in York for a few days after christmas!
Lol she's not hands on at all and what she is hands on with won't scratch Well my nails might, but my skin doesn't >.> Cooliez, I'm not as stressed anymore. Thanks people.
I got my girlfriend a white gold bracelet about 2 years ago I think, and it still looks new (to me anyways haha) and she wears it 24/7 for the past 2 years, showers with it works with it, etc.. It's really thin/fine though, so you wouldn't be able to notice scratches, but it hasn't tarnished or start to look gross or anything yet, still shiny. it did break once though when it got caught on something, but was cheap to fix. I dunno anything about jewelry though
If it's legit, it can't tarnish. Platinum plating doesn't tarnish. My wedding band is white gold. No problems so far.
Yea I really like white gold, I just got her a white gold necklace to actually for Christmas, hoping it's as good as that bracelet
