I suppose we could ask the burning question: Why do potatoes whistle? The answer of course is: because they don't know the words. .
the one time I attempted to cook a potato in the microwave it caught fire and set the microwave on fire, also.
it doesnt take an hour it might take longer but its worth the wait.. i never even heard of people microwaving potatoes...maybe its an irish thing ha we love our potatoes
you areee.. is it not all hard and horrible from the microwave... i like boilin them, then roastin them Mmmmmmmmmm
I always thought it was the sound of the steam coming through the skin, but I like your answer better.
I microwave baked potatoes. They only get all hard if you cook them too long and don't turn them over halfway.
I always thought that they were just letting off steam! I often in the summer do them in the microwave and then finish them on the BBQ. Saves time and heat in the house.
some potatoes cook better in the microwave...I had two yesterday and they were different types...one was still hard after 10 minutes so I got fed up and threw it out....the russet was perfect thought
and the real reason you started this thread becomes clear. you were waiting to spring that one on us i bet. they whistle because the air expands and the escaping air + small holes = whistle noise
