I'm feeling like the priority is to vaccinate the infirm and it's a cause I can stand behind. The problem is getting the vaccine for myself. I'm not first on the list, and I don't know who will notify me when it's my turn. I feel like it should be my health insurance, who has all of my demographic/health-oriented information to decide if I'm eligible as we move forward with the rollout/phased effort. Even with Biden's team taking the helm, it feels disorganized. I think they need to announce their implementation nationally. On every channel.
We called our county health department, and got on the waiting list. We're still on the elderly and front-line workers here.
I got an automated phone call a week or so ago... It was a "red alert" warning about vaccines for those over 75. There was a limited number so it was first come, first served. In order to get yours you had to have signed up the day before said phone call... I'm guessing only those 75 or older with access to a time machine were able to get their shot.
This can happen when the needle ruptures a blood vessel in the muscle causing local bruising; it is very hit and miss, but apart from the few hours discomfort, it has no other side effects. Here in the UK, people taking anticoagulants are tested prior to vaccination. I do not know the threshold figure. Generally speaking, you are lucky if the person doing your vaccination is a sister or haematologist who sticks needles in people every day. For some doctors, it may be the first time in 15 years.
The current covid vaccine codes are !...... Health workers 2...... 80 plus 3...... 75 to 80 4...... 70 to 75 5...... 65 to 70 For high risk younger patients, the doctor decides on the best formula, based on the ability of their immune system to fight pathogenic bacteria. 2 is the safe option. Here in London, people are mostly invited for vaccination with patients at highest risk at the top of the list. Time slots are set to avoid waiting for more than 15 minutes. Needless to say, things do not always go according to plan.
Here in London we are down to the 65 to 70 group. Due to vaccine availability, some people in the higher groups are still waiting, but their are very few. You can see the vaccine types in my reply above. #31
Personally, I think mothers should get the vaccine last. Think about it a moment; if your wee bairn can eject it's binkie onto the floor up under the table at McDonald's, and with alacrity born of long practice you can retrieve it, pop it in your mouth, and plug it back into aforementioned bairn, you must posses an immune system robust enough to attack squirrels in the garden.
How utterly predictable. Across The South, COVID-19 Vaccine Sites Missing From Black And Hispanic Neighborhoods
Apparently you missed the point in my post. Besides, Ohio hasn't figured out anything passed level two and they have no idea when anything is supposed to happen. My county in particular has not gotten passed the "It's all a hoax" level yet.
In a sad way, that works in your favor; by default rational people will be at the head of the line when vaccines become available.
Yay !!! - received my vaccine letter in the post today - am attending the vaccine centre next Tuesday and again on 28th April.
Yes matey, I've been waiting weeks for this, but now I also have to wait till that idiot Boris determines to relax the restrictions and releases the restaurants and pubs again !!!
Pfizer has estimated the current vaccines will become worthless with a year, and their newest vaccine still in the works aims to combat that, and has had a 96% success rate in trials.
