Went to Newark today after work, parked near the river and walked around town, the shops and the market for an hour or so. I think a town centre/market place must be one of the nicest areas to go barefoot on a warm day. Lot's of different surfaces, concrete, tarmac, cobbles, tiles etc. Feeling the cool tiles of the indoor arcades, then the warm pavements and the hot metal grates is such a great thing. If only those people wearing shoes knew how good it felt
I went to the movies with a friend barefoot the other day it was awesome! The theatre floor felt weird and sticky and the walk there was really nice. I did slip some flip flops on for a few minutes to get into the theatre though. I didn't want the hassle.
I was feeling brave today so I went in my local Tesco to do a bit of shopping. Didn't get any hassle which was nice, though I was wearing jeans so my bare feet were not that obvious.
Tesco are in that much trouble and desperate for custom that I think they have ditched their "dress code" personally I think they are an awful, unethical retailer and I won't, unless absolutely necessary, use them.
I'm sure you can find some muddy places to help dirty up your soles. Are you getting any more grief from your boss at work about being barefoot?
I washed my dog and walked around the yard barefoot for a bit the other day. Only cuz my shoes were wet tho.
I went in Tesco again today, maybe they don't care anymore, this time I wore shorts and a toe ring and still didn't get asked to leave.. The heavy rain this last weekend wasn't very nice, usually I love walking barefoot in summer rain, but this was cold and horrible. Made up for it today though.
I went on my first downtown barefoot outing today! I took the bus and visited my friend. We then went for a walk downtown and even went into some clothing stores and the comic book shoppe with no hassle. The only time I slipped my flip flops on was to stop in the grocery store on the way home. I thought their policy might be stricter than those of the stores I was in earlier. I also went for a bike ride later without shoes. I got a few strange looks while waiting for the bus, but no one really seemed to care. I was wearing some barefoot sandals most of the day (basically foot jewellery, not shoes). They cover a little bit of the top of my feet so on first glance it looks like I might have sandals on. I think that helped my confidence a lot for my first proper barefoot outing, but next time I think I'll try without them!
Nice one Mattekat. The more you walk about barefoot and nobody comments the more your confidence will grow and be able to come out with a quick quip if challenged! Good for you keep at it
I only put my shoes on if I have to go drive somewhere. In the midwest we have tons of creeks and rivers, It feels awesome to stand in the creek and feel the water passing by, standing on the smooth rocks. Though I dont think I could ever actually walk barefoot in a hospital or a gas station.
I took your advice and found a creek today. Okay it was more of a river, but it does feel absolutely amazing! I mean I've stood in creeks and rivers barefoot before, but this time it was specifically so I could stand there and experience how it felt, and concentrate on that feeling.
Finished work at 12 yesterday, changed into Jeans, T-shirt and Barefeet and drove home, stopping to fuel the car up. Soles always seem to get very dirty on Petrol station forecourts. Made 2 separate trips to the Post Office, went in a few shops on the high street, including the Co-op, whose floor tiles always feel really cold, walked home the long way round, and then mowed the lawn. Soles were really dirty (and green) by now. Had a shower and went to my Yoga class. Always wear flip flops to walk there so as not to have dirty feet in the class. Walked home Barefoot of course, calling in at the Chinese take away. A good day and plenty more to come this weekend
Went for a walk today over a gravel road and it didn't even hurt really! My feet must be making progress. My feet don't really feel any tougher on the bottoms though. I have also managed to somehow get a sandal tan even though I barely wear them...
Had a barefoot walk to the grocery store in the rain today! I walked right by the no bare feet sign at the door. A few customers looked shocked but no one working there noticed or cared. My boyfriend also seems to be getting used to my bare feet. Last time we went to the grocery store he asked me to bring sandals to put on before I got in the store. I think he thought I would embarass him. This time he didn't say a word. I tend to wear other things that get me stares in public, like blue or green lipstick, so I think he realized the attention I get isn't much different than that.
Went in the bank today, first time I've been in there barefoot. Waited in line for quite a while, the cool tiles felt nice after the warm pavement. Got a few funny looks from the other customers. Don't care. It's gong to be very hot for the next few days, who knows I might even see other people going barefoot.
