A few versions of Linux Mint ago, there was a program called "fslint" that would identify redundant files, empty folders, filename errors, allow you to delete files, etc. After about Linux Mint 20.x, fslint was no longer available. I stumbled across a similar program called "czkawka" which has similar capabilities. I use it often, after accidentally merging two separate backup drives onto one 4 TB SSD. Some of the files are present 15 to 30 times and so are the folders.
"czkawka" is available from the Synaptic Package Manager. For LMDE-7, you need to install Synaptic Package Manager using "Software Manager"
