Thanx for getting that ancient song into my head! Theres always the sun...*always the suuuuun* always the sun...always...always...always the suuuuuuuuuuuuun du du du
I read the Guardian and the BBC websites mainly. I sometime begrudgingly read the Independent as on my campus you can get it for 30p.. with a free smoothie and divine chocolate bar. But i think its full of bollocks. I sometimes read the London Lite and London paper but a) they're not very good b) their power freaks me out a little as i see everyone read them. I also read news blogs.. mainly Normblog and a blog called Opinio Juris..
I'd disagree quite strongly here... I find it's extremely middle of the road... I was taking a train journey a little while ago and bought the Sindie and was very unimpressed with the shoddy journalism and the (imo) watered down opinions stated as fact... Definitely not what I'd call left wing... Won't be buying that one again.. I buy The Grauniad as it's the paper that least sickens me though it often makes me go 'argh' a little at some opiniony bits (and some of the columnists are detestable) but on the whole it's reporting is pretty balanced and informed and they have done some great investigations in the past... Only printed publication I buy with any regularity is Private Eye though, they'll rip into the right as much as they'll rip into the left and underneath the public schoolboy humour there's some very serious journalism and great exposes.. Top magazine. ....don't get me started on the Socialist Worker...
I'll second that, I've been very unimpressed with the quality of journalism on the Independent, and its stance is very middle of the road if not slightly right of centre.
Rah, the only non middle class left wing paper is the Mirror, and they print nonsense half the time. I read the Guardian and the Metro (always good for a laugh) on the train. I tried reading the Mail once and couldn't get past the point wherein the article entitled "Last Days of a Monster" about Fidel Castro's illness a while back when the only negative they could use against Che Guevara was that he "Supported an inneficient system of government" . I publicly lol'd on a ferry at that.
I know that most people simply buy the newspaper, just to read the Garfield comic strips. I have seen it all before. Great news readers of the British isles, my arse What is this about an ancient song?
Garfield isn't even worth it IMO, if you want funny garfield try Garfield Minus Garfield: http://garfieldminusgarfield.tumblr.com/
