in a nutshell this topic measures how important u think freedom is... like people who vote for equality would probably accept some censorship, liek if nazis wanted to rally in ur town square, us egalitarians would oppose it, where as free-speech advocates would tolerate it (not agree with but tolerate it)...
gauging equality from an economic stand point .. so long as we continue to build/depend on society as we do/depend on it as a whole .. and we keep populating there will always be these issues ... If we start to teach ourselves or bring up our families to care for themselves .. through not only education but in life ... as if there were no business/others to depend or draw from .. then perhaps we will slowly evolve away from those issues ...just as we evolved to many things .. we could learn to care for ourselves enough so that each man is equipped enough to help his fello man when he cant get up ...and when he can get up then he does the same .. some people use this method ...but society does not function that way as a whole .. we are busy scratching our way to the top .. to top of the self imposed prison ... that makes it easy for us to ignore the little guys needs .. because lets face it ...its like a food chain .. big dog doesnt make it higher up with out stepping on or blocking little dog to get that bigger bite ....the focus is so negative .. and if one doesnt agree with that way then simply create a new way ...because its not going to stop now .. we would have to rebuild for that to change at this point .. Then people would know that they have a choice .. otherwise we act like drones .. yes there should be funding for certain education, but keep in mind there is a wealth of information and resources mentors ...already there to help self teach ...and if the greator good really requires a degree then there are endless amounts of grants ...available to make that happen .. if your good at it then there is a grant available in the states ..it just requires the will. We have a mind hence we have a solution. ...you would think ...
but theres initial inequity as long as some make more than others, thats unaviodable, not everyone have the means to provide for themselves, my dad owns a franchise, my cousins dad is a social worker (who doesnt even own his house) we arent economically equal. i dont have to do shit to be "sucessful"(economically), its being handed to me, my cousin will have to bust his ass to even have a stab at "sucess"...i dont think instilling values will change anything
and liek with disabled people, if ur born with mentally challanged u cant manage a business, sure ur parents are there for a while, but when they pass, what are u to do?
Grafitti soul you said to me to imply money is a goal is pretty shallow I wasnt talking about money being my goal. I wasnt talking about money then ....it evolved to that through another persons focus and mention ... so I later contributed my comments in response to their economic concerns .. etc .. some people feel that is what segregates us and its a reality .. its not deep or shallow .... it is a reality ...I feel segregation can be on any level .. so ... I am going to react to comments on any of those levels ...but I personally wont "attach" myself to it .. nor will I worry about your perceiving me as shallow ..... becuase I know these concerns are real ..but the end result is the same ..my choice is freedom ..and it is my goal but I wont ignore the realities ...

I say : You are RIGHT ... it doesnt have to be that way you and whoever that is alive, breathing, empowered with a brain, a will and hopefully using it to find a way to be the change that they seek to make it a better way... and yes there are severe disabilites etc and so on .. and we find a way to not use them as a crutch .. but we find a way to move over that obstacle ..and must must learn to teach others how to think that way .. there are granted cases where a person is incapacitated or its more severe and they need their family or the government to fund them a way to simply live ..and what happens when they dont have it or get it .. then they are on the street ...or worse .. what do you do then ... what are you doing now for the guy you saw on the side of the road ....this particular issue boils down to humanity ...and action ...forming a newer better whole .. and it can begin with one .. if not you .. ? What have you done?
but u cant have freedom b4 equality, is not the goal of freedom to reach equality... like in slave societies, all those deemed deserving(fully human) were given freedom more so than we have now both economic(taxes were a hell of alot lower, and there was no income tax) and social(fed govt had much less power). would u prefer that to FDRs New Deal where there was a grueling war being fought, the rich were paying very high taxes, but all people were promised equal protection under the law(altho certain states were doing their best to undermine this protection...but i guess thats what happens when u give states too much freedom)
WHAT HAVE I DONE? dont fucking get me started, i spent last christmas at the englewood food center feeding the casualties of this capitalist war on compassiom...in my highschool career, ive served over 500 hours of community service doing everything from reading some of the most boring stories u can imaging to my towns nursing home, to supervising troubled children at my towns afterschool program(which got me a comm. service award from my school)...this year i was the vice president of my schools community outreach program( we had thnxgiving food drives, collected bicycles for villagers in africa and asia, we collected old cell phones for troops in iraq, we did bake sales to try and help the cause to raise money to get one of my clasmates an operation he couldnt afford...this summer for 3 weeks in July,I going to be doing volunteer work in Salvador, Brazil (via Cross Cultural Solutions). Dont u dare question my conviction!
Freedom seems to be kicking ass here. Thank goodness we all have A FREE CHOICE to be different, instead of having to EQUALLY choose the same thing.
Well its not a matter of questioning your conviction ..its to point out that one person is doing their part .. and sometimes .. that is all we can do for now ..one or a few at a time ... your excercising your freedom to be part of that change .. and that is all that I am pointing out ... it starts there and hopefully it will become as common as taxes coming out of our paychecks ... hmmmmm.... taxes .. and all the many places it goes .. indeed ... I better stop here .. too many branches .. possibilities
Equality is boring. Why would anybody want to live in a world where everybody was kept equal? Now don't get me wrong, I believe in equal oppurtunity for everybody, and that everybody should have the chance to go as far as their own dreams, ambitions, skills, and talents will take them, but forced equality, socialism/communism, is simply immoral to those with bigger ideas, and more talent than those who are content with just riding the coattails of others.
Freedom vs. Equality. hmm, tough. now isnt freedom a choice rather than something given to you? we are all free and if we all follow the same basic principals (much like the 10 commandments i.e. dont kill, steal etc. without being as dogmatic) then we can all be free. when it comes down to it, equality stems from greed. its like somone saying "my neighbor has a better life and everything seems to work out for him, he has more, i have less therfore we are not equal". if you are free you are equal, because you have the same options as everybody else, its what you choose that makes the difference..so...choose to be free.
