Anyone have a favorite blanket? I have a thing about blankets...always searching for the perfect one to match, but never quite finding it..... Apparently, as a tiny 1-2 year old, I would carry my blanket everywhere, dragging it along....my mom said it was always filthy, but I would never let go of it....and then she got rid of it on me. That must have devastated me, only I do not remember any of it. I only know what I write here, as my mom told me..... so maybe that is why I still have a thing about blankets.... I guess my favorite one now is a flannel filled comforter.....100% cotton flannel on the outside, and stuffing, not down, stuffing it...... It comes pretty close...I love snuggling with it, when it is bitter cold outside, and this house can get pretty cold, too...... Do you have a favorite blanket?
my yellow fleecy blanket also have another blanket that's really soft and warm. it has several colors in it
I recently inherited a handmade quilt when my great aunt passed away. I joke that it is my Kevlar blanket because it weighs about a gazillion pounds. Its so warm.
Spanky cat lays on top of me all through the night and morning...and makes it impossible for me to sleep...Although, he is very warm and sweet, his nails hurt as he does that kneading thing on my arms and he gets pretty heavy on me.....so I am torn always....do I throw him off or just suffer.....LOL
I have a few different pendletons, one on the back of the couch, one in my van and one on our bed. They all mean something special to me
My favorite one is a quilt that my best friends mom made me for my wedding. She passed away 3 weeks before i got married. It's on my bed right now. We only use it in the winter because its so heavy.
I had one for years that my step-mom made me. It was a skeleton and roses design. Weighed a ton and was really warm. Oddly enough, it never bothered me to sleep under it in the summer though. I had that for a lot of years.
I have a Native American woven wool blanket... It's on the shelf. Don't use it very often. Also have a quilt my Sister made in the cedar closet...
I have 3 blankets that I really like: a thick fleece one with a "cosmos" print (sun surrounded with stars, moons, planets and whatnot) that I keep on the couch to put on my lap, and a thin (but super warm) zebra printed fleece one to add on top of the comforter during cold nights. The last one is a rainbow hand knitted blanket, that my grandma made for me while my mom was expecting me, and that I now use to wrap my son when I sit with him in the rocking chair.
i guess my comforters are my most comfortable blankets. i have two of them, and i have no preference between the two. i have a bunch of blankets, but none of them have any particular sentimental value to me or anything. which might be kind of dickish on my part, since at least two of them were handmade for me. but i just can't make myself love a blanket because of that.
My favorite is a quilt I made in 1970. It is a "log cabin barn raising pattern" with concentric diamonds (pictures of the design are searchable on the internet). I don't use it now but used to have it hanging on a wall. Maybe some day I will hang it again. I made about a dozen quilts but this is the only one I kept. I also made a lot of afghans and throws but can't say I have a favorite. Since I have a dog and a cat I tend to use blankets that can be easily cleaned of pet hair.
