Seattle clam chowder actually surprised me greatly when I went there. The best clam chowder I've ever had.
Ivar's down on the pier used to be some of the best when i was younger but sorta lost its flair when they tried to branch out. Hell even Skippers was fantastic till they offered it in a can and it went to hell. Ivars still is not to bad though. There was a little fish house next to the Ballard Locks that was real good, your fish and ships can wrapped in newspaper and the chowder was to die for. would order and sit and watch the boats go through the locks into and out of Lake Washington.
If your an oyster fan try Chuckanut Drive in Washington. Best scenery you will ever see and a little hole in the wall place with the best oysters ever. http://www.theoysterbaronchuckanutdrive.com/aboutus.shtml
My knowledge of the area is not as detailed. Thanks for sharing. I had my clam chowder in that fish market at the foot of the downtown area overlooking the port in Tacoma. :cheers2: I just love the port.
Yes you are correct too, they offer at least 5 different spellings for he same thing. Washington fish and game call them geoducks so I used it.
