It seems that whenever I hear jazz, I always hear the slow stuff. The cool jazz. You know, elevator music. Don't these people know how to play a rag or two? You don't have to be Jelly Roll Morton to play some blues once in awhile, and you don't have to bring the Duke back from the late twenties in a time machine to hear the Cotton Club Stomp in person, you can play some dancin' music any ol' time of day, whatever the size of your band. And I ain't got anything against slow soft dancing piano jazz, it has it's place, but it shouldn't have the whole pie.
