Well obviously not because it is a beautiful, interesting, colorful, diverse country, and certainly not because I heard good things about Cuba and its people. It's because I am a socialist, communist and a supporter of a dictatorial regime. It's not like I want to go somewhere exotic like Denver, Boston or Canada, like some people in this thread said, but whose choice are not questionable.
It appears some people can enjoy different cultures than their own :sunny: If a place is somewhat isolated or in another way not up with the global developments it also can get more interesting to visit such a place. Often there is lingering some older kind of atmosphere and cultural vibe that can make you feel you're a few decades back in time. There are even people trying to visit north-Korea (and although its not on my priority list I can't blame them for being intrigued).
Whats wrong with Cuba Its one of the best places I have ever been ! I would definitely go back there and I don't smoke
No I didn't like the games we were obliged to take part in. Also: they played terrible music. If I were you I would skip that part of the island.
I did the tourist thing and drank a mojito in the Bodeguita bar in the footsteps of Hemingway But I found a great gun museum in Havana down a side street , with the most exquisite display of engraved Winchester rifles and shotguns I do have pictures somewhere I will have to look for them
If I was visiting Cuba I would want to visit that bar as well :cheers2: Who cares every tourist wants to. Ah well, unless it would be stuffed full with tourists I guess... then I maybe would skip it.
Heard so many horror stories about Jamaica and Haiti, Cuba not so much. I'd be up for any island nation closer to the equator with a beach, anywhere with beaches, but some of those countries sound so sketchy
