I've heard people say message boards are becoming a thing of the past. So where to people meet now to discuss politics and other topics like that? FWIW, I'm still on Facebook and Twitter.
Well, how about here at the HipForums? I see few places online actually encourage people to talk about politics or whatever, most simply exist to push advertising at you in the form of endless popups and annoying notifications.
Populair "social" media these days is imo to polarized/commercial(left/right/greed bs).....to have any usefull disscusion on anything....................answer mostly lies in the middle. Statred out with Mirc, icq, hives, msn, ect.................back then it was a bit better(social).............but i already gave up on "social" media back then. I have my own................gaming, niche forums Mzzls
Twitter/Reddit (Maybe even 4chan) are pretty much the main places... You don't really need specific message boards anymore, as everything is in one spot over there. Big companies have so much data on you, that they already know what you want to hear and will basically just recommend you that stuff, so many people just don't feel the need to seriously engage with different viewpoints :/ Gotta love Web 2.0 Whats also getting more popular since 2019 are less public communications, like people forming pretty big communities on discord servers and stuff like that
Message boards/forums.. But, I think we were headed toward a "we can all be alone together" society even before COVID.
