We must have just missed each other then as I went from Guildford town centre to Park Barn on saturday afternoon (by bus) and walked back to the station via the cathedral on sunday morning.

Would be nice if some of the locals saw both of us at different times and wondered if there was a trend getting going.

I'm sorry I missed you. I parked at the university Park & Ride and walked down into town along Walnut Tree Close. I was back again in the evening / early hours - there are always plenty of barefooters in Guildford at that time of day ! It's always a good conversation starter.......

I'll look out for you in future.

Sadly I don't go there very often. I don't live there any more. But I did my degree at Surrey Uni and must have walked barefoot along Walnut Tree Close 100s of times.

Today I walked all through the uni, into the library, and round where i live. Treated myself to some nice damp soil too!

Got a haircut at SportClips, did a little shopping at Meijer, then worked on refinishing a desk out in the garage and yard.

Went barefoot in the nearby park for a substantial amount of time with my friends, and to a (dying) shopping mall; my first time going barefoot in a shopping place! I even went into the Sears, which actually has people in it.

I went to walmart and hy vee barefoot last night. I'm about to go out of town in a bit... which means I'll probably end up shopping barefoot somewhere tonight too.

I took a walk around the neighborhood barefoot last night, and I just got back from going to Walgreen's, El Pollo Loco and my storage unit, all barefoot. :)

  12. I spend my weekends barefoot, so local chores, shopping, are done...you know. I'm trying to work this into the work week. Barefoot to and from but just not during work.

We had our monthly hike on Saturday, 28 of us. Needless to say, i was the only barefoot one! Most had those heavy leather hiking boots that must have weighed more than their feet, so no wonder they were complaining about hot tired feet and legs. Of course, they could have followed my example. (fat chance!)
One of the hikers was a reflexologist with a professional interest in feet, and she was surprised my feet were so healthy "after all that punishment"! It was only six miles, but a bit rough, though.

I did my usual daily barefooting on my way to work and back home after work yesterday, and had two encounters with non-barefooters reacting to my pedal nudity... the first in the morning, when an elderly lady approached me with her question of "Excuse me. Aren't you afraid of stepping on things like needles or thumbtacks...?" At first, I wanted to ask her, if she has seen any thumbtacks strewn on the sidewalks recently, but then I just shook my head, smiled and replied that I am always looking ahead on my path to avoid anything potentially dangerous. She nodded and went on to wherever she was going.
The second non-barefooter encounter was on my way home, as I was sitting in the tram, wiating for it to depart, and a young woman (around 20) was approaching the tram driver at first, asking something (which I didn't quite hear with my earphones plugged in to my netbook I use as a portable video player on long tram/bus rides), to which the driver shook his head. She then approached me, asking if she could use my cell phone, since her pre-paid card was depleted - Being a nice person, I told her yes, and she made a quick call, telling me afterwards, that a friend of hers talks too much, and hence her pre-paid balance went to zero within short time. She then took great interest in my netbook and the video I was watching (a Star Trek Enterprise episode), asking if she could watch, too... I gave her one of the earplugs to listen in on it, we talked a bit about mobile computers, life in general, and only as she was about to get off the tram she noticed my bare feet, gave me a quizzical look and then said "Hey, you're not wearing shoes..." I replied, that I am barefoot in my free time almost always. She then smiled, observing the two painted toenails on my left foot and the toe rings. I smiled back, saying that since people tend to gape at my bare feet, I intend to give them something to look at. She also commented about getting a toe ring or two of her own (perhaps I should've asked when she'd wear them, as she was wearing sneakers on that occasion), and I encouraged her to do so. She thought those were quite expensive, which they're not, really... at least the ones made of silver, that is. On getting off the tram, she thanked me again for letting her use my phone and for the nice talk, wished my a nice evening and told me that she thought my barefooting being really cool and that I should keep it up.

Well, being encouraged to bare one's feet by a shoe wearer... such things can happen, after all.

Today is going to be another barefoot day on the way to and from work... Main difference is the weather, though, since we have light rain at the moment, temperatures around 16°C/60F. So, people are going to see a weird sight - a barefoot man, carrying an umbrella. Not afraid to get my feet wet, but raindrops on glassed can be a real pain in the tail. :D

Wiggling toes looking forward to some puddles to happily walk through,

    ~*Ganesha*~

I went into London yesterday afternoon. Didn't bring any shoes with me. Went to Canary Wharf, met up with a friend, went to see Mesrine, and then went for a drink in the Cat and Canary before heading back home to Cambridge on the last train. Lots of fun. Particularly playing DLR frogger (Using the DLR trains to get from platform to platform later in the evening when trying to get to Tesco for a sandwich, by getting on them and then straight out at the other side onto the next platform - 3 times in all to get from one side of the station to the other).

I did a hike on the weekend where I decided to bare it. (Fullerton Loop/McClean Creek)

The start of the hike was great. The path was gravelly and not much different from the alley's I'm used to walking. Scored some geocaches. Some families about and kids staring.

Took it nice and easy upwards, the path getting tougher and sharper. I don't think I would have gotten as far as I did without my ski pole. Seriously, it saved me. By the steepest part my feet were actually getting bruised (No blisters though!) and the going was slow and rough.

Reaching the high point of the trail, I put my Vibrams on. Oh gawds, did that feel good. I flew through the rest of the trail.

Been treading fruit for winemaking. Wow. Did that feel good. Then just went about my day barefoot as usual.

A grocery store (smallish one that gets upset about barefeet) and my doctor's office. Gotta stop at a bottle king (biggish liquor store later) where they gave me an angry look last nite but wine supplies are necessary. Thinking of seeing Harry Potter tonite as well. Bank tomorrow and depending on weather New York City also (those subways are fun).

  19. Supermarket (nice smooth semi-dirty floors), bread store, video store, liquor store, bakery. (Excuse me? Recession??)

So far today the mall, a bank and a gas station. Later this evening, the movies.

I am cheating slightly -only one foot is bare. The other is in a cast again. It has been raining most of the day, and wet floors and a flip flop with crutches just won't work, so it will be a bare footed weekend!
