An ALMS car race today in Lime Rock Connecticut and several country stores for smokes, beer, beer oh and more beer. (I had lots of help with the latter, tho I was the only barefoot one in my crowd....but talk bout not staying hydrated...and yeh i did lotsa water too). Freaking hot, big time too much sun and no shade (98 degrees). The paved parts didn't have a big effect on soles.

Happily, the port o sans were sorta clean....well most were. Can't kill the headache but it was worthwhile. Buncha spectators barefoot at the race no shoes in sight, what a great sport.

Yesterday I went to Lowe's (home improvement/hardware) barefoot and wearing shorts (i.e., my bare feet feet were pretty obvious). I was in the plumbing section when a female employee came up. I was prepared for grief, but she actually gave me some helpful advice. She drifted away and I continued selecting the various pieces/parts I needed for my project. A while later she stopped by again. I explained what I was trying to do and she approved and I headed out. On my way I realized I need some silicone cement, so I asked a male employee. He courteously told me where to find it. Then I checked out. The clerk had to come around to the front of the counter to scan some of the large items. Again, no issue!!

Today I went to Home Depot barefoot and wearing shorts, which has the "Shoes Required" sign. I grabbed a cart, and as I walked in the female greeter said, "Looks like you forgot something." I asked, "What"? She said, "Your shoes." I stated that I'd come in barefoot a few times. She just laughed and asked that I be careful walking around. Fair enough!

As I've said before, it really seems to me that most people don't care if you're barefoot, but those who do can get really bent out of shape. Fortunately I've encountered very few of those. :)

Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky Ohio. my girlfriend & I wore flip flops that we had to remove when riding rides that our feet dangled from. Great feeling off the air between your toes on a rollarcoaster that moves over 65 mph

Cedar Point, my favorite amusement park!

In addition to the Raptor, the water rides such as Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon can also be ridden barefoot. In fact, many people do unless you want to walk around in wet shoes the rest of the day. At the water ride section of the park you can go barefoot to your heart's content and no one will tell you to put your shoes back on. However there is a recorded message informing patrons that shirts and shoes are required beyond a certain point in the park. I have gone barefoot beyond this area with few problems. During one visit, I did exit the park for a barefoot stroll along the beach area, but was told to put my shoes back on when I tried to re-enter the park.

it was the Raptor, Power Tower, Max air, and wave swinger, didn't do the water rides at all but walked in the area where barefeet was okay. However I did remove my shoes for most of the day just carried them no one said a word.

    Kia Ora Ni Hao!

Three and a half months barefoot and it feels so great. I recently received a comment at a gas station from a lady with her husband. Something along the lines of 'it's great to see people still going barefoot and enjoying the small things in life'.

It is starting to get cooler at night, so sadly barefoot 24/7 time will be coming to a close in a couple months. Oh well, it has been phenomenal, and I am already looking forward to next summer!

I have to get my fridge repaired, so soon I will be able to add 'refrigerator repair shop' to my list of places I have gone barefoot!

    Cheers!

I just went strolling/hiking barefoot for a few hours here in Switzerland (albeit one of the lowland valley bits). The trek up the valley side is mostly forested and a tad steep at times, made for a nice walk, seeing as the weather was warm and sunny for a change.
Some of the excessively rock-strewn or overgrown bits were a slight pain, but otherwise it was reasonably easy.

The folk here are far too stoic to comment on spotting someone barefoot, thankfully :p
Going barefoot also does increase my tendency to avoid people when going through the woods...

Where have I been barefoot the last week...? Well, it was the usual routine of pre- and after-office barefooting, grocery shopping, mall visits, and yesterday again barefooting my way to our fantasy role-playing group.

Since my walking barefoot in my free time (unhassled, too), it'd be just too redundant to write the same every day - so, this was the condensed full wekk version.

It may sound boring to some people, but with the keyword "unhassled" a dream come true for other barefooters.

I was out in the mountains last, and trod on a lot of very sharp holly leaves. I wasn't impressed.

Been b/f most of the w/e at work, but forgot to mention that was b/f at the Farnborough International Airshow last Saturday on all sorts of surfaces including runway tarmac, metal walkways & parched grass - it was a hot day but it was lovely to be b/f (wasn't brave enough to be b/f whilst travelling though, although if I had then I wouldn't have had this huge blister on the back of my heel that I got whilst frog marching to the train station in the morning as I was running late - I didn't think I'd be up for it walking quickly b/f a mile to the station - that'll teach me). Anyway, whilst I was there I saw a guy wearing vibrams - never seen them before - they certainly stood out - I honestly don't see the point of them, much prefer to be b/f.

The last week was again barefooting routine - just as the week before (see above)... and again, I went barefoot unhassled, only encountering the odd occurance of "The Look"TM here and there.

Since the weather has switched from heat wave to pleasantly warm, walking barefoot has been and is pure delight. And especially rainy days were yet again welcome to my feet especially after work to cool down physically and mentally.

Right now, I am again profiting from the fact that people forget to encrypt their WiFi access - and therefore I am right now barefoot at my usual street café on the shopping ped zone of the town I live in. With sunny weather and temperatures near 25°C, one might expect to see more bare feet than my own. However, I haven't spotted any so far - not fully bare ones, that is, just the kind with the fip-flop-covered soles.

One non-barefooting mishap was the SIM card in my cell phone breaking down on me last Monday. Since I am currently working overtime (my office days are at least 10 hours long each day at the moment - my colleague with whom I share the work had a burn-out breakdown three weeks ago), I had to wait until the weekend to go to one of my provider's shops to get a replacement. So, in I went, was greeted by one of the business-type tie-wearing sales attendants, told him about my problem - and saw his profesionally friendly face brighten up a little, when telling him that this was not about some cheap pre-paid card but a full contract. He arranged for it to have the provider send me a new SIM card within 2-5 days, then asked me about my current contract, monthly cost, etc. and concluded that he could get me a cheaper one and that I was legit for getting a new phone, too... not once did he stare at my bare feet or mentioned them - one purely service- and custumer-oriented professional, for sure. I'm sure that this might have happened differently in a foot-phobic place.

One small barefooting mishap happened yesterday at the office, when I suddenly felt some strange chafing sensation on one of my toes... one of the four toe rings I wear had broken... oh, well, that tends to happen after a few years, especially if they are of the thin sort. So, now I'm wearing "only" 3 rings on my toes at the moment (1 right, 2 left). Since these kind of toe rings are rather inexpensive, I can get a replacement easily - I just have to check for street fairs with jewelry stands, or I ask at the place where I also buy my Nag Champa incense... another shop, where barefoot customers are welcome.

Well, so far for a little report of my recent bare footsteps. Since the weekend's urban barefooting tour isn't over as yet (the grocery shopping part is still on my roster), I might even post a little addendum to this report.

    Wiggling bare and happy toes,

For some people, watching rain fall can be a source of sadness, gloom or even depression... I feel profoundly different, when I see rain falling, since I think of the various delights my bare feet are about to feel as soon as I go out to walk barefoot. Therefore, watching the rain fall this Sunday morning until shortly after noon gave me a feeling of pleasant anticipation.

It was about 1 pm, when the constant rain had stopped and I decided to leave my apartment for the park nearby. The sky was light grey and there was a hint of sunshine behind those hazy and thin clouds. On the way to the park over the paved sidewalk I made sure not to miss a puddle, amazed at how warm they felt, even though it had been raining all morning.

As soon as I entered the park, the sun broke out from her hiding place behind those hazy, light grey clouds, and feeling the park paths, made of sand with small pebbly stones beneath my bare soles it was like walking barefoot on a beach. The rain had drenched them good, and the ground gave way to my footsteps, enabling me to leave a clearly visible trail of nicely defined bare footprints. Much to my delight, there were lots of puddles on these paths, too, some shallow, others ankle-deep. Again, I made sure not to miss any of these, splashing my bare feet in them, wiggling my toes and grinning, letting my inner child come out all the way. Sand and earth also gave my soles a nice massage together with those small pebbles mixed in. Furthermore, barefooting that surface had a cosmetic effect, too, acting as a natural peeling to sand down some of the excess callous on the sides of my heels.

Something funny happening while enjoying the feeling of sand, soil and puddles was a young couple entering the park from a side entrance, walking the paths, and carefully avoiding each puddle as not to get their fashionable senakers wet or dirty. I walked a couple of meters behind them, careful (as I wrote above) not to miss any of them and even splashing my bare feet audibly in them. They only gave me brief glance, walked on and then left the park again by use of a back exit.

On reaching the back part of the park, my favourite western corner of the place, I switched from the paths to walking on the wet grass and enjoying the feeling of a spongy and plushy wet green carpet underfoot. I spent a total of almost two hours in that park, thoroughly refueling my wellness batteries, before the sky began to get darker. Just as I arrived at home, a heavy shower began falling, refilling those wonderful puddles where I had left my footprints for the world to see.

    Wiggling bare toes,

The good Lord provided me with several hours of barefoot city walking last night. Unfortunately it wasn't originally planned that way. I managed to miss the last train home and it was either pay sixty dollars for a cab or kill four and a half hours strolling barefoot around the city. Needless to say choosing the latter was a no brainer for me. My feet felt great while I walked around the city, but by the time I finally got home they were killing me. I also managed to squeeze in a workout with the jump rope earlier and that might have made them a little more sensitive. I'm hoping on a quick visit to the city later this evening, but have made a pact with myself that when that last train rolls out I'll be on it.:)

Since my office duties required me to get in there on Saturday, I had the opportunity to have a barefoot day – well, half a day, to be precise – at work... no boss, no potential customers, therefore no need to carry footwear whatsoever. Liberating indeed. The necessity arose from the fact, that our firm has their salary calculated from mid-month on, with the payment at the end of the month. And since mid-month, the 15th, happens to be a Sunday, I had to make sure that all the entries in our electronic work time logging system are confirmed properly at the latest by Monday, 9 am. With about 120 people in our team, I thought it'd be better to put in a few extra hours (I already have 40 and then some, so those didn't make a difference...) on a Saturday than arriving extra-early on Monday morning (which I still have to do to check on entries made on Saturday, since I wasn't alone there...

The barefoot Saturday isn't over as yet, as there is still my Saturday urban barefooting tour on the roster, which is partly done. From the grow and head shop – which was closed today without any note or info on the door as to why it was – I went to the same provider shop I visited last week to upgrade my contract and order that new cell phone that was offered me last week. Again, no hassles or comments from the personnel there... the employee serving me last week was busy with customers, so a colleague of his dealt with me just as professionally as he did. That's how customers should be dealt with, regardless of their footwear. I really like that sort of barefoot-indifference a lot.
Next stop was the usual street café for capuccino and soda, where I received the usual examples of „The Look“TM, especially when again typing this very text on my mini laptop and posting it on the Forum... that guy with his WiFi access with the SSID „dlink“ still hasn't come to know about encryption. Oh well, with that new cell phone contract, I can also use the new smartphone to connect via HSDPA, too, so that his bandwidth will be safe.

After the café visit (a pleasant one with sunny weather and 25°C – perfect for barefooting the town) it'll be grocery shopping again... hopefully without any accident happening to my pinky toes. I already wrote somewhere else about the dangers of shopping carts to bare toes.

    Wiggling bare toes in sunlight,

Today I went barefoot around Brick Lane Market and the Spitalfields area of London. Lots of varied surfaces to walk on and ending up with very dirty soles. No comments and scacely a look from anyone. Even saw a barefoot young man with no footwear in sight arriving just as I was leaving.
