I went barefoot to a Cracker Barrel restaurant this morning to buy a gift certificate for my dad. No problems!

For the past two nights, I've been walking down the (long) street to Dunkin Donuts around 2-3am barefoot and being inside without any hassle. Maybe they don't care after a certain hour. The walk to Dunkin Donuts goes right past a few construction sites, but I suppose my feet are tough enough to deal.

On the way back from Price Chopper (forbids bare feet), a 4.345 kilometer (2.7 mile) walk, I decided to take off socks/shoes while in a park and walked the rest of the way home. UV Index being 6-7, asphalt was bad and needed to be avoided while bright white concrete was alright, but, /okay.

It might sound negative, but if you go into a Dunkin Donuts at that time, they are just happy you are not robbing them. The late night walking is good. The shoe police don't like to work nights.

Well, the countdown has come to an end, and this is it: the start of a full fortnight of barefoot freedom (well, 15 days actually, starting from this Saturday).

I celebrated this freedom by sleeping in, and getting up at lunch time, roughly. The usual Saturday plan was the shopping trip in the town center - with the visit to the street café cancelled due to unstable and occasionally rainy conditions. It was a comparingly cool day, not feeling like summer solstice peeking around the corner (which will be on Monday, June 21, precisely at 1.28 pm CEDT), with only 14°C, which prompted me to put on my hooded cotton jacket - but certainly not any footwear.

The shopping trip itself was the usual, including the occurances of "The Look"® here and there, but as I proceeded to shove my shopping cart towards the checkout, one of those rare accidents happened, as I stubbed the small pinky toe (quite hard) of my right foot on the right rear wheel of that confounded cart. So, if people think that it's dangerous to do grocery shopping barefoot due to broken glass or stuff on the ground - that's not it. It's those damn carts that pose a threat to bare toes. And as if to prove that, a small trickle of blood oozed out from under the toe nail, running down the toe and leaving small droplets of blood where I stood. Well, let's hope that this isn't some sort of portent or ill omen for my bare feet during the next 15 days...

Well, to answer that instantly: I certainly don't believe that it is - shit happens to bare feet at times, sometimes literally, too, when stepping in dog poo, sometimes by stubbing your toe.
This surely won't keep me from baring my toes and wiggling them happily while they touch Earth in Her different forms.

And tomorrow will definitely be a delightful day, since I will visit another stop of the medieval market tour known as "Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum", this time in a very barefoot-friendly park in Dortmund. And I am sure, since the weather forecast still speaks of slightly unstable and cool weather (around 15°C) that my bare soles will celebrate the feeling of moist and cool soil and grass beneath them.

I will surely keep you posted.

Wiggling happy (and one slightly bloodstained) toes,

    ~*Ganesha*~

(P.S.: this text appears with pictures also on my my barefoot diary page, as usual.)

A busy day for my bare foot yesterday. The mall, supermarket, a tyre store, gas station and a car wash.

Well, as I wrote previously, I had a swell day at the medieval-themed festival known as "Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum" in Dortmund yesterday - with a little collection of new foot jewelry purchased there. Due to somewhat cool weather conditions, the number of barefooters was quite small, though.

Today I went to a favourite place of mine to do a little pagan voodoo... it's summer solstice today, after all. :D

Details and pictures are on my personal barefoot diary page, as usual.

Wiggling happy bare (and pain-free) toes,

    ~*Ganesha*~

I went for a barefoot run in some quiet country lanes yesterday. The only person that saw me was a woman riding a horse who smiled at me as I passed her.

I loved the way the hot hard dirt felt on my feet, and as I walked further into the feild the mud came between my toes and then the grass cleaned my feet and everything was so warm and felt so good:)

Today before it rained I had a funny experience. I was at a mall barefoot and looking in the Apple store window. An older couple approached (I don't think I got the look but was not paying attention) and the male made a comment I guess was directed at me. I couldn't hear. But the wife was a bit louder and said "well summer is here after all". I'm gonna take that as a partially good thing.

ouch ! from my side in a couple of weeks, I: threaded twice on a thorny rose branch (nine triangular thorns in a single hit), grazed my right foot bad falling from bicycle, then had it bleed because i hit it with the side stand of my motorbike right on a grazing, took several more thorns in both soles and got a couple of toe and heel cracks. in a word, my feet are currently a mess :puke:
