Where art thou dionysian ubermensch, hero of human culture?

American Sexuality is somewhat complex. I suspect that the peak of cultural sexual freedom for our nation as a whole was right before the Janet Jackson Half Time Show for whatever for whatever SuperBowl, I forget offhand. If you might recall, some Americans were upset that she showed a nipple, even though it was a pasty, but it was a fast shot. Overnight women's magazines and fashion magazines stopped showing women's nipples, or even the telltale bump underneath a shirt or sweater.

I argued at the time that this shame of women's bodies had the danger of playing out in the loss of women's rights. Nipples have started to return in recent years, but the damage to women's rights in this country has certainly been done.

 

In my opinion, The 3rd Wave is more relevant to today than Future Shock.

 

Sequels can sometimes be better. If it werent for the slight pedo part ecotopia emerging is better than ecotopia. Also relevant here. The dream & the nightmare the 60s legacy to the underclass. Darkside of the rainbow tho conservative has interesting points. Some of hg wells stuff is relevant too to now. Infact a few of his concepts kinda messed up a bit.
