I am going to the graveyard today to pick out a plot. It's not the graveyard that my Dad and his mom are buried at. The plot is being given to me for free so who am I to turn down an eternal resting spot?

Have you made plans for your post mortem corpse?

My mom wants her remains to go to Ohio state medical research. Yes it's a gross topic but we all die!

Preferably when I die i'd prefer to become worm food then plant food. Compost me with worms and plant a tree over me. I make the best fertilizer! Don't pump me with formaldehyde! Let me rot naturally/quickly. I want to sustain life after I die!

I would prefer that too... but they call it "illegal rendering". So I guess it's ashes for me.

They can basically freeze dry you and grow a tree from you. It's likely more money and requires special grounds for that. Also I read something about a mushroom suit, that turns us into mushroom compost. Sadly it's not for shrooms people will eat....lol

I'm dealing with this issue right now with my mom. She has just entered hospice and has expressed her desire to be cremated and no funeral. Which of course has put me into the mode of making my own plans. I really have no desire to be buried, I don't mind being cremated, donating my abused body to science would not yield any good outcomes... so, I'm currently undecided.

Cremation for me, with ashes scattered in the mountains, ideally.

Mom has asked us to scatter her ashes in Hawaii.

Old cemeteries fascinate me, but the modern ones seem pointless.

I am signed up for organ/tissue donation (if anything is worth anything when I am done with this body.) Then cremation and hopefully spread in some peaceful place.

I will be buried at the cemetery where my both my mother's and father's family are buried, in our family plot.

There are graves there with dates from the early 1800's.

I would like to donate my body to science

If not that, then I would like to be buried in a "green" cemetary in a decomposable pine box.

    Or cremation is okay too.

If I'm not buried I still want a funeral or memorial of some sort. We are very ritualistic about death here in the south and I really think it helps the grieving process. Funerals are for the living, not for the dead.

My dad bought a 16 grave family plot, back in the 70's.

I'm supposed to be buried next to my mother.

I don't think I'll even have my ashes buried there.

I'd like to leave a piece of cremation jewelry for each of my kids and grandkids to put some of my ashes in.

Maybe the rest of my ashes could be buried in the family plot. I just hate the expense of opening a grave for that.

I'm sorry to hear that your mom is reaching the end of her days. It's not an easy thing to deal with.

I would like to be cremated and my ashes put into a large weather baloon released into the atmosphere and allowed explode at edge of space.

I looked into a Viking funeral but seemingly its illegal.

In some states spreading ashes is illegal...

Apparently a dead body get's classified as "toxic waste" and even incineration doesn't change that status.

    People are stupid...

In Georgia it's legal to scatter ashes. You don't have to be embalmed. You don't have to be in a casket. You can be buried on private property. They're pretty relaxed on all that stuff.

I came from my mom's vagina and I want them to put me back there when I'm done.

Cremated and scattered in the Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho. No funeral services please, but a party would be ok as long as '60s and '70s Rock 'n Roll is played.
