Y'all will NEVER understand. You dont even have a clue as to what the Hippies were and what we acomplished in our dirty laziness.

Who had time to be lazy. We had to hussle our next meal or rent. You think we just laid around on fluffy pillows and had servents to wait on us with food and drink.

We had to stay one step ahead of The Man. We ARE the Hippies. Not the only ones but The Real Deal right from Haight Ashbury.

When our book comes out you can read what really, really went on in the lives of the Hippie. The truth of how we lived, what we thought and some of the crazy shit we got ourselves into.

In the Tree of evelution of the Hippies, we were a product of The Beat generation. They were Hip, we are Hippies. What evolved from us is the The New Millinium Hippie.

Thoes are the Lazy Hippie, twaz not us that were lazy, we made things happen. We changed minds and gave hope to the youth of Amercia, we were the youth of America and we made a noise.

If you knew Hippies you would know that most of us are retired in our 60s some in our 70s. You speak but only diarea comes out of your mouths and it stinks. Maybe it is you that is dirty and lazy. Wow! Go girl! I've been offline for a couple of weeks and just found this thread yesterday. I agree with everything you've said. We did change things and yes, my thoughts then have not changed or been diluted over the years, if anything I'm more passionate about my beliefs. I get soooo angry about the dirty, lazy, good for nothing tag (then again dirty might ring true since I had no real home for a few years moving from one free festival or gathering to the next)

 

It's statements like these that prove some hippies are really nothing more than egomaniacal hypocrites. They speak of peace and love and how they changed the world but when even the slightest thing angers them, the whole peace, love, and changing the world thing goes right out the window and they threaten to kick people's whinny ass's and make sarcastic and or hateful speeches. Maybe some of them should just chill out and practice what they preach. There's a few of 'em that should learn how to take a joke.

 

I can't help but wonder if you're just trying to get a rise out of people. I think the "hypocritical egomaniac" description fits nearly every one of us from time to time. I myself will fall into that trap (on the presumption that some might see me as a "true hippie"- I don't).. I have a particularly nasty temper that has been at the epicenter of most of my own personal problems.... but we're not discussing me.

Furthering stereotypes for the purpose of a cheap laugh in the midst of a serious discussion serves little purpose beyond depreciating the value of anything you might have to say in the future. I could go into some history about some hippie sub-groups like the "diggers" who were known for being particularly industrious, but since that doesn't fit into the stereotype you're using as grist for cheap laughs then I imagine you'd be dismissive of it.

Provoking members, then calling out them as hypocrites for their reactions is not something that belongs in this discussion. Please weigh your words more carefully.

Well Ive been here since 2008 and have only meet 3 people from here..

 

I'd just like to say. Some of the Hippies were Warriors. we needed the warriors to keep the pacifest alive. Every culture has their warriors and we have ours, I say Have bc we are still here, probably bc we are those warriors and we survived.

We stood in the middle of streets with our signs of protest, we were beaten and maced and gassed. We were thrown in to jail and stripped of all our rights. We were hunted down like dogs and shot or beaten to death. They stole our children and brainwashed them into the system.

Still we sang of peace and love, still we strived to end the war, still we moved further.

We were called to do it. We all heard the call and we came by the hundreds and soon the thousands. We gathered on the streets and parks of all the cities across America. We told our story and we got the message that we came to deliver out to the public.

We were many and we made a noise loud enough for Amercia to hear us, in fact we were so loud that other countries heard us and joined in.The youth of today have let our rights get taken away with each president that is elected. They let the banks control the world and our ecosystem go down the tubes.

Hippes are a dying breed, we are old and fleeting.. W have told our tale and done our best. We handed over the firestick to the next generation to retire and live our remaining days in peace. We are still Hippies and live by the Hippie Code, we can not be otherwise. We were born to be who we are.

If ppl do not stand for something they fall and are devoured by the machine.

Get up off your ass' and get busy, do something for yourselves before it is too late. Stop ONE WORLD ORDER. Stop the chip implants for tracking purposes, they are tracking you and your money. Stop the war spending. Stop the cloning and irrradiation of our food stuff. Do something before they win.

to me from my experiencing "true hippies" are smelly, lazy and dumb fucking people. Now these are the "true hippies" that ive meet in my life time which is a lot. now the normal functioning in society hippies who more or less just are free spirits and understanding, smoke weed like classic rock and work, they are cool as shit.

 

You are not old enough to have known any 'True Hippies'.

I belive the hippies from the 60s and 70s have homes with running water and bathtubs by now and bathe reguarly.

I think the Topic is " Where are some true hippes at'. It is not about how 'smelly' they are, which most of us arent, unless we have been working hard and I do believe that all humans can 'work' up a stink.

I would also like to reviel this big secret. Not all long haired ppl are Hippies. I think you may have Homeless ppl confused with Hippies. They are two different breeds.

Why does it always have to be like this. Why do ppl not appreciate what we did and lable us smelly and lazy and now we're dumb, does that mean we cant speak ?!? Is that what we faught and died for as we faught for your rights as human beings. As we tried to make a better place for our children. That would be you.. This is the thanks we get.

It would be funny to see all the truely dumbfounded faces of the ones who dis hippies to know most of us went to collage, were in the military and we even had doctors and lawyers, teachers and preachers in our flock. There were painters, plumbers, electritions, barbers, machanics and a slew of other proffessions.

Ppl were busy, they were motivated to get out and do. There were times of doing nothing but having a big ole party to celebrate Life and Love.

You do not know Hippies as well as you think you do.

Hippies I knew were all creative, productive, and active people.
Some activities like protesting the war demanded giving up home, family, identity, and bathtub to fight for the rights ppl are so easily giving up these days. I was active and endured hardship for it.

yellow springs ohio, dave chapelle lives there, but i've been there too and there are definately real hippies there... the trees have hand-knit sweaters and every telephone pole is coated in stickers and posters and madness.

at Ha Ha's pizza, the cover of their menu is a dude in a chef's hat smoking a doobie, and last i knew there wasnt any medical in ohio
