Back in the early 70’s when “Son of Sam” David Berkowitz was wreaking havoc, when they finally caught him and showed him being walked away in handcuffs, “Baby Blue” by Badfinger was the first song I heard on the radio after the arrest. I always think back to that time in my life when that song comes on. Sad song.
The song Babe by Styx invokes one of the most vivid memories I have from my childhood. I’m walking down the stairs from my bedroom, and two of my sisters are in the living room playing records on their stereo turntable, and the song babe comes on. The image is so vivid I can literally transport myself back in time, hear the lyrics, and feel the carpet on my bare feet as I descend down the steps.
when i hear the song imagine, i imagine the very kinds of images i try to create. a world of peaceful, fascinating, imagination inspiring, positive, strangeness. a world of liberated creative expression, that is the birthright and nature of sapience. where to build, one does not have to indenture oneself, nor confuses their liberation with impunity to attack the differences and uniqueness of the visions and dreams of others. where the worth of anyone, is not what they can accumulate, but how they act. where people do not rob others of their own thoughts by demanding their attention. where people do not try to dictate what each other choose to pretend or imagine. its not about making a big deal about pretending to love, but about quietly living universal and impartial consideration, not even just for humans, not even just for one planet in one solar system, but for the infinite complexity of interaction of all of existence. a world of strange little houses, strange little trains, and people who each look like their own kind of odd unique species. that is what i see in furry feathery scallie tails and pointed ears and colorful paterns and stripes and swerls of colors and markings, far beyond the minor and superfiscial variation in amount of melanin in human skin, or equally minor variations in facial features. where people see the fascination in landscapes and how we treat and shape them, beyond obsession with the pettiness of personalities and of conflicts that entertaining stories may require, but that real life we must all experience, does not.
Wait, which song is WASP? Although, I've realized that I only really like a few QR songs, but The Wild and the Young is a favorite! I'm sure I can think of something for this thread, just not off the top ofmy head...likely just as soon as I logout.
lol Eric, you still didn't answer my question. (I've only heard of WASP, I don't know any songs...and apparently, I don't know the other songs in that post either. It's like the first post on this page fyi) ok, thought of a couple, but the first one is too embarrassing to part with. The second isn't much better, but I'll share anyhoo. It's silly and simple, but I always think of the TATU song/video (all the things she said) when listening to this song (probably because of the school uniforms in the video). Blink182-Feeling This
A lot of songs take me back to when I was in emotional-growth boarding school; CEDU, in the early nineteen nineties. The school has a special rule - the music agreement. What a weird name we all initially thought - agreement. It suggests that we had agreed to something, yet we had done no such thing... Most kids were carted off from their respective homes either by parents, orderlies, or law enforcement I'm sure. None were there by choice. But after a time, you grew to be thankful for the structure, order, and protection of the "music agreement" among other agreements (rules). And so, certain music was deemed acceptable and could be heard playing in the main house or the art studio or what have you. No one really had a personal stereo so it was all very communal. And at any rate here are a few songs that remind me of the "music agreement", CEDU, and being young.
Silly me! I didn't realize I could click on it and see the title. Then again, not ALL videos say it. Anyway, thanks! And someone else I talked to about QR said WASP sounds the same too. Unfortunately, it turns out I'm not really quite the fan of the band. I mean, I really really like "The Wild and the Young", but that's about it...since I'm here, that song, like many from the 80s MTV days, remind me of that (MTV) as well as hanging out with my parents. I'd like to think this song/video was my intro into sort of "metal" music. I'm not sure this is quite metal, and much of the other music by QR isn't exactly metal either...right? ok, well Wikipedia says heavy metal and hard rock. So, I guess it was my intro (along with The Scorpions \m/ Now there's a band that I like a bit more of their music...at least everything that I've heard so far.)
Oh how I miss the good ol MTV days! I loved watching those videos with high school friends. I think Quiet Riot was more hardrock than heavy metal, just my opinion. At times I really can’t distinguish between the two. Regardless, I love it all!!
“Body Talk” by Ratt. I always think of the Eddie Murphy movie “Golden Child” because the music video was playing in the movie during a fight scene. Never heard it until I saw the movie and I was like “Hey, that’s a bad ass song! How come I never heard it yet, and who’s singing it?”
