Let's hope that the Strange days that we find ourselves in (for people are indeed strange), won't be the end, fire will be lit, and we'll see us riding on the storm out
Sir Keir Starmer? Sir Keir Starmer is voters' preferred choice to replace Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader
Whilst it may well be 'the festive' period, there seems to be no clamour rush of Candidates for the role of 'Peoples Champion' - with only a few "considering whether to run", one has to wonder why? Could it be that the position is a lost cause? (Barring catastrophe) 5 years in opposition seemingly wasted, and a strategic move, to wait for the right time more prudent? Hmm,
Mal To repeat I cannot respect a referendum that was based on lies. In the video I though Caroline Lucas and the other female MP were brilliant in pointing out how wrong this guy was. I mean he did come across as rather disingenuous if not hypocritical. I mean I had to laugh at the notion that the Brexit supporters wanted to have friendly relationships with the EU countries when Boris Johnson has called the French ‘turds’ the Dutch ‘sleazy’ and compared the EU to the Nazis and we have had things like the LeaveUK posters that had a picture of Merkel on it with the tagline ‘we didn’t win two world wars to be pushed around by a kraut’. I mean come on the right wing press have spent years spreading falsehoods and lies about the EU and encouraging dislike even hatred of our fellow Europeans. So given all of what Leavers have done to bring about division and hate it seems a bit rich for this guy to turn around now and say those that supported the EU and were always friendly with other Europeans to play nice. Anyway why should anyone support Brexit when even its supports cannot come up with any rational reasons for why it is a good thing?

REBECCA LONG-BAILEY: Rebecca Long-Bailey broke Labour leadership rules but was cleared by Corbyn allies
Now the Trade Unions have given relevant support for preferred Labour Leader, it seems back to the Media portrayal of the Candidates. The recent (over the weekend) articles show a light into who's doing what... or does it? Are the reports the whole tale? or 'a sentence taken out of a paragraph'? There is no doubt that what has been published is accurate in observation, it is 'between the lines' and 'missing words' of the story that lies a real truth. One wonders however, in this 'modern age' of snapshot education, how many people spare the time in - 'reading the book' when 'the film' is much easier to absorb "The Truth is (always) out there" - but the time spent in finding it seems to be too inconvenient to invest time in for far too many. The choice of opposition to the current Governing Party must be astute, measured and sustainable. (IMO) though I fear it may end up being a choice of apathy, ease to follow a directed lead and/or knee jerk/fire-fighting exercise.
Down to Three as Thornberry fails to amass support:- "LABOUR's Emily Thornberry has failed to remain in the party's leadership race after falling short of enough backers to move through to the final stage of the contest." "Despite a desperate last minute scramble ahead of the midnight deadline, Ms Thornberry was unable to convince enough people to stay in the race. The shadow foreign secretary failed to win support from any trade unions or groups linked to party so needed endorsements from constituency parties to make it through to the final ballot." " Pitching to be given her chance to put her message to the party’s members, she said: “Nominate me to get the widest range of voices, skills and experience on the ballot,” she said. “Labour members deserve to have the widest and best possible choice when deciding our next leader.” - Frontbenchers Sir Keir Starmer and Rebecca Long-Bailey, along with backbench MP Lisa Nandy, had already made it to the next round" -(Daily Express 15/02/20 - Link not transferring)
