im not a nirvana fan but you have to give kurt credit for putting all those awfull hair metal bands to the sword...i dnt know theres always rock bands but they just dnt get played on your popular stations. which isnt really a bad thing. the music scene has split into so many levels now.... if u want pop ( maddona, coldplay etc) or hop pop its on all the time for the kiddies. but theres still loads of great bands out there doing really well void of mtv and all that crap. the national,my morning jacket, the black keys etc all great bands from you guys in america. the indie rock scene in uk is a joke at the moment. anyway those bands come over here and play to good size crowds without any air play. its all there. buy mojo and uncut magazine every month and never listhen to the radio again. ohh and cat power! thank america for cat power!
rock is like an animal man. it's gotta evolve and change according to its surroundings. Its suroundings are no longer the same as they once where. I mean at one time like back in the sixties the influence(surroundings) of rock where more about love, which is where you get REO Speedwagon, or Led Zeppelin, or Floyd. But it was also about anger man. More of that anger is geting out ya know man. The anger has taken more hold than back then man which is why newer bands an' rap an' such have so much anger in them. Rock is just following the emotional trend. Music is good man, if you can get your emotions out thru music then go for it man. But I'd still like to hear a bit more classic rock sounds in the area man.:cheers2:
I dont think rock n roll is dead. As long as we have the records, the passion, the want to listen to them, we are all good. Sure, music aint as good today as it was then, but, it's not rock n roll. that's pop music. there are still some very good rock n roll groups out there. Also, every musician that still lives from that period continues to rock. Listen to some of the interviews with legendary rockers: Clapton, McCartney, Harrison, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, the list goes on, at inthestudio.net, it has to be the greatest collection of interviews and recording on the web by one DJ. Hear them talk, does it sound like Rock n Roll is dead? I think not, not yet.
I dont think it is dead. When i listen to rock n roll i am not listening to a dead music form, i dont feel that way and i dont think that way...Listen to some of these interviews with legendary rockers: Clapton, McCartney, Harrison, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, the list goes on, at inthestudio.net, it has to be the greatest collection of interviews and recording on the web by one DJ. does it sound like, to them, in their recollections that rock is dead??? i think not.
i was thinking the same thing the other day i dunno. the 80s sucked, but the grunge era still came around. so hopefully it'll get good again.
If rock 'n roll would be kept alive by the original musicians I would say it is close to death. But anyway, music today is not only pop music. There are new rock musicians making new rock 'n roll. You don't have to like it all (it's quite diverse), but it's not close to death. It has nothing to do with the rock musicians of the first hour who are still doing their thing though. If that would be what's keeping it alive it would actually be close to death.
Little Richard and Chuck Berry are two of the oldest living rock legends.....and they're still kickin'
As much as I dig Nirvana of course, saying that the band is last great rock band is reductive to say the least ............be positive....r'n'r is REAL music made by TRUE people
