When did 1960's liberals who 'hate the govt' start loving this $35T monster?

It baffles me that the 1960's liberals so easily went from hating 'the man' and having the historic least trust in government EVER, to wanting more and more taxes to make the government as big and as intrusive as possible? When and why did this happen? Asking for a friend!

It sure as hell isn't "60's Liberals" that are outlawing abortion, banning books, dictating what can be said and taught in schools, suppressing votes, or even dictating who you're allowed to love.
You clearly haven't a clue what you're talking about.

Hmm. But, if the republican administrations are cutting public spending, but the deficit increases, I wonder where that money goes... ⚔️☠️... gosh, it's a mystery!

It goes to the military budget and pet projects they force on us as compromises to seriously helpful legislation.

Wanting more efficient taxes from a government so corrupt and inefficient that it's $35T in debt, is like expecting a whore in the final stages of syphilis to give you safe unprotected sex

All the more reason I want more efficient taxes! Plus it's all the more reason I don't ever want to see the GOP in the White House again! They're the ones who fuck everything up and then the Democrats have to come in and spend years doing damage control! Wake up Coach!

FACT CHECK: It was Biden who couldn't find ANYTHING in the debt ceiling fight to cut, and refused to negotiate, it was McCarthy and the Republican's who pushed and got spending cuts when the prospect of a Biden default on payments to get all the spending he wanted lost popular support.

In point of fact, there are entire DEPARTMENTS in the federal government that should be deleted, such as the IRS, and the Dept of Education (and many many more)

Plus he wants to eliminate the Department of Education! Perhaps he thinks education is over-rated? The Department of Education needs some serious revamping, but the idea of eliminating it is absurd!

It's a state function, not a federal one

Part of the war on intellectualism. I strongly suggest that anyone who is interested in education in the U.S. read:
The War on Science, Who's waging it, Why it matters, What can we do about it
And The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education
These two books outline in great detail how the push to localize education and degrade science has led to a corruption of the great American free education initiative which began with the first free public school supported by taxes in 1639.

But I'm sure nobody will read them.

What a shit show. Yes, you're right. Leave it up to the states and certain ones will drift toward theocracy. Ensuring separation of church and state is one of the major functions that a centralized educational standard should serve. And you need an agency to set that standard.

Another example of how states can screw up their education systems is by drastically underfunding them. A lot of states already really have this problem. Just imagine how bad it could get if there were no federal standard.
