I never said I promote violence. I'm saying you have a Constitutional right to burn the flag...no law against it, in fact that's one way of properly deposing of an old flag. And as I have the right to burn a flag in protest of something or other, why should I worry about angering some idiot? I should give up my right Constitutional right so as not to offend someone? Having said that, I would never burn a flag in protest, but I would support anyone who feels the need to do so. I was around during the Vietnam years and witnessed the protests on the campus I was at. I didn't participate per se, but I listened to the speakers and supported the right to protest. As far as blue collar workers, I've lived with them all my life, worked with them, and most of my relatives were them. If they're too stupid to learn the Constitution, they need to be educated not bowed down to.
Yes, we had a flag burning individual through here a couple months back. Gene Stilp. It was a Confederate flag, but the principle is the same. Why anger the Confederate flag fliers and alienate the working man? In 2018 a women in Philly was arrested for trying to burn a flag. Not burning one mind you. Arrested for attempted arson. In 2017 an Illinois man was awarded $15,000 after being arrested for burning a flag. A man burnt a flag in Los Angles in 2017 and was arrested for arson. I'm sure there's others. It looks lie the new tactic is to arrest someone for "arson".
That seems like quite a stretch. Arson is legally defined as the intentional burning of a building or structure. Pretty hard to conceptualize a flag as a structure.
I love it! During colonial and imperialist celebrations it's a good way to show the marginalized in society that they're not alone and forgotten. But also fun any other day of the year too.
Vandalism and certain hate movements. I didn't bother responding because the turning a blind eye pretty much reiterated my point and was also the day I drew the line in the sand and began to be me. No longer was I going to let myself be subjected to that woman's mood swings nor would I try and let it play any bearing on my day to day life.
I understand the First Amendment but for me it's a matter of pride. I love what that flag stands for. Doesn't mean I agree with what those who wrap themselves in it these days do.
