i am very confused by all of this

so in the meantime i will burn every flag i see

It seems I will be a minority in my thoughts but since you all are talking about freedom of speech, I will say my part.
I have fought in 2 wars and did not like war but I did it because I believed in serving my country when I was needed. This country has lots of problems. I, like everybody else, could probably have a long list of complaints and in their point of view, would be right.
But I will tell you out flat, If I saw somebody burning the flag of my country, I would be the first one there to put out the fire. I don't care if it would start a riot, it's my right to defend the flag I fought for, the flag I respect, and the flag of my country.

The flag is just another symbol. A symbol is a symbol. It's not actually the thing it represents.

Burning the flag is much like burning a cross, tearing a picture of the Pope, ripping up a poster of Uncle Sam, burning a confederate flag, de-facing greenbacks with your penmanship, etc.

It's silly to attach moral sentiments to symbols, and that is the whole point behind destroying them.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of "pseudo-patriot flag-waving assholes here in the USA that are more attached to the symbol than the ideas that these stupid symbols represent themselves.

Burning flags is not a good method of protesting and it certainly isnt anti American. Its anti every country.

You are controlled at any part of your empty life, your children are taken to the army directly from familly house by some kind of Marine's door-to-door salesmans. Your gorenment by allowing to gun market in your coutry spread that evil alll over the world and gun marked wasn't banned. So what that the children in Darfur have Chinese nor American guns? This is because of US politics. See Columbia. What there happened! See what happened in Irak. See how perfidly George Bush used the right time to place atomic shield with probably atomic missiles just beside the Russian border. Now Russia will break ACDA treaty and start producing middle range atomic missiles.

How many shooting in shools make politicans aware that gun market should be banned? This is really good method to infuence on them. I do not say that I like it or it isn't bloody. I'm saying that if where will be more such accidents maybe there will be next pool in parlament and maybe the result will be different than 81:10 next time.

And what is all about that the hippie wears the country flag? Such dress is suitable rather to football fun not for the hippie. I'm sorry that I teaching you cause you're older but in Poland such behavior would be strange. We use flags in Europa only to show respect to the national football team or in other sports - not to show LOVE to the country. Take this off man and tell the others to self-control as this looks dangerous outside, creates bad look you know. I understand that in USA you have the completely new conditions, many nations and so on, but that means that you should listen even more to coutryfolks with older history and culture as everything depends on continous continuation of the real culture which has its root in magic, monarchies, artifacts, legends and other staff.

You should know as you were living with Indians in Amazonia as I understand. They have their spirit inside and they do not need to shake with stupid small flags (like a Poles were doing when the Russians wanted - WE HAD THE RED ONES - LESS UGLY

 

I usually stand with my arms stretched out holding flag on the end of a stick when I set the Flag of Canada on fire.... Then I piss on it to put it out....
