yea my pick has changed, I got a new cd today, and I'd have to say "Imagine" by John Lennon, along with most of the other songs on this cd
i forgot to mention 'signs', by the Five Man Electric Band. i'd also like to add 'jeremy', by Pearl Jam. when i heard that song for the first time, about 4 years ago, i went and apologized sincerely (and often at the point of tears) to anyone i had ever picked on... thats a horribly depressing song... *sigh*
"Come Sail Away" by Styx makes me dance. That's moving. Also, "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton always makes me cry. Pretty much every guy I've ever dated has given me a reason to cry every time I hear it.
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes It's getting to the point where I am no fun anymore, I am sorry. Sometimes it hurts so badly I must cry out loud, ‘I am lonely.' I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard. Remember what we've said, and done and felt about each other, oh babe, have mercy. Don't let the past, remind us of what we are not now, I am not dreaming. I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard. Tearing yourself away from me now, you are free and I am crying. This does not mean I don't love you, I do, that's forever, yes, and for always. I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are, you make it hard. Something inside is telling me that I've got your secret. Are you still listening? Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart and I love you. I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are and you make it hard, and you make it hard, and you make it hard, and you make it hard. Friday evening, Sunday in the afternoon, what have you got to lose? Tuesday morning, please be gone, I'm tired of you what have you got to lose? Can I tell it like it is, listen to me baby- it's my heart that's a suffering, it a-dying and that's what I have to lose. I've got an answer. I'm going to fly away, what have I got to lose? Will you come see me Thursdays and Saturdays? What have you got to lose? Chestnut brown canary, ruby throated sparrow, sing a song, don't be long, thrill me to the marrow. Voices of the angels, ring around the moonlight, asking me, said, she so free, how can you catch the sparrow? Lacy, lilting lyrics, losing love lamenting. Change by life, make it right, be my lady.
Warren Zevon - Accidentally Like a Martyr Rod Stewart- Gasoline Ally Cat Stevens - Trouble and a bunch more, but those are prob my top 3 Peace, Darren
There are a million songs I could list, but my first choice would have to be Jeff Buckley's version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallejuah" The first time I heard that song I couldn't stop crying... It really moved me more than any song I've ever heard. Every Cat Stevens song I've ever heard has also done something for me... He's just... amazing. One of my favorites is "The boy with a moon and star on his head." Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue" Nirvana's "All Apolgies" and "The Man Who Sold The World" Coldplay's "Yellow" Donovan's "Only the Blues" and "Hurdy Gurdy Man" The entire "On The Threashold of a Dream" album by the Moody Blues Don McClean's "American Pie" and "Babylon" Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage" and their song "Wish you Were Here" The Beatles's "Let it Be" "Yesterday" and "Blackbird" (many more but those esepically for me anyway) ELP's "Lucky Man" Ahhhhhhh I'll stop now, I think I've listed a few too many oh well Parden my ramblings..

Actually... U2 wrote "all along the watchtower"... ------------------------------ Mindless drifter on the road Carry such an easy load It's how you look, and how you feel You must have a heart of steel. Why do I keep fuckin' up? I can see you on a hill Comatose but walking still Curves beneath your flowing gown Only I could bring you down. Why do I keep fuckin' up? Dogs that lick and dogs that bite Hounds that howl through the night Broken leashes are all over the floor Keys left hanging in a swinging door. Why do I keep fuckin' up? Keep fuckin' up!!!!!
Down the street you can hear her scream "you’re a disgrace" As she slams the door in his drunken face And now he stands outside And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool He cries "oh, girl you must be mad, What happened to the sweet love you and me had? " Against the door he leans and starts a scene, And his tears fall and burn the garden green And so castles made of sand fall in the sea, eventually A little indian brave who before he was ten, Played wargames in the woods with his indian friends And he built up a dream that when he grew up He would be a fearless warrior indian cheif Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until Tomorrow he would sing his first warsong and fight his first battle But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually There was a young girl, whos heart was a frown ’cause she was crippled for life, And she couldn’t speak a sound And she wished and prayed she could stop living, So she decided to die She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore And to her legs she smiled "you won’t hurt me no more" But then a sight she’d never seen made her jump and say "look a golden winged ship is passing my way" And it really didn’t have to stop, it just kept on going... And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually
John Lennon - My Mummy's Dead It's a very short song, only 50 seconds long, but very moving ... My mummy's dead I can't get it through my head Though it's been so many years My mummy's dead I can't explain So much pain I could never show it My mummy's dead
those are prolly the stupidest lyrics ive ever seen, and they show you just how fucked up music for the most part is today
Tried to save the trees, bought a plastic bag The bottom fell out, it was a piece 'a crap...piece of crap!!! Wanted an LP, only had CD's Digitally clean, it was a piece of crap...piece of crap!!! Bought myself a can, thought it'd take me far The dealer was a liar, he was a piece of crap...piece of crap!!! Got it from my friend, on him you can depend I found out in the end, it was a piece of crap...piece of crap!!! I'm trying to save the trees, I saw it on TV They cut the forest down to build a piece of crap...piece of crap!!! Picked up a magazine to read about the scene It didn't tell me beans, it was a piece of crap...piece of crap!!! I I went back to the store, they gave me four more The guy told me at the door it was a piece of crap... It was a piece of crap!!! ---------------------------------------------------- From Hank to Hendrix I walked these streets with you Here I am with this old guitar Doin' what I do. I always expected That you should see me through I never believed in much But I believed in you. Can we get it together Can we still stand side by side Can we make it last Like a musical ride? From Marilyn to Madonna I always loved your smile Now we're headed for the big divorce California-style. I found myself singin' Like a long-lost friend The same thing that makes you live Can kill you in the end. Can we get it together Can we still stand side by side Can we make it last Like a musical ride? Sometime it's distorted Not clear to you Sometimes the beauty of love Just comes ringin' through. New glass in the window New leaf on the tree New distance between us You and me. Can we get it together Can we still walk side by side Can we make it last Like a musical ride?
Mine would have to be the main theme to the film 'The Big Country', performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It's fab!
At the moment I'd say The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics. Everybody Hurts is anothe one though.
Jimi Hendrixs "Little Wing" "Well she's walkin...Through the clouds. With a circus mind, that's running round. Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairytales...that's all she ever thinks about...Ridin' with the wind... When I'm sad. She comes to me. With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free. It's all right she says, it's all right. Take anything you want from me. Anything. Fly on little wing." I dunno if it's so much the lyrics as it is the guitar playing man...But it's a beautiful song.
