I think I would have to go with the Raimi Spiderman movies with Tobey Maguire. I know the Marvel movies are really popular, but I don't think they've topped the first two in that series... even 3 was at least interesting to watch, and would have been great without the studio interference. They are pretty much everything I think a superhero movie ought to be. I also have a lot of nostalgia for the first three Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
Watchmen... I’m not a huge comic book guy but I really enjoyed this movie and think it is really underrated... I enjoy the tie-ins with actual bits of history they include... I think it went under the radar a bit because most of the comic movies are kid friendly and this one was darker, definitely not for kids... might have cut down on the overall audience
I looked back through this thread because I couldn't remember if I had answered the op question and I see the writer Mark Millar referred to as "some Scottish guy". I legit chuckled because in the world of comic books, he's a pretty big name. Hell, even outside of comics... He has feature films based on his work. I thought it would be funny if a conversation went thusly: "Yeah... I like Daniel Craig as Bond a lot too but he's not the best. Shit, what's that guys name?" "Who, the best James Bond? Ha! Unbelievable, I can't remember his name either... some Scottish guy." Anyway, um, what was I saying? Oh right, favorite comic book movie. Dark Knight. Easy.
Definitely Watchmen. Mostly because of Dr. Manhattan's struggle throughout the film to maintain a semblance of his humanity, the dark & gritty tone certainly helped however
The Warriors Cops are trynna rack up every gang in this town Yeeahh me and you included How come you're so happy about this? ... I'm Havin a good tiiiime. Let's go!
Not a movie, but the series Daredevil. I started bingeing it but stopped, but it’s good so far. And Spider-Man!
My favorite is the only one I've ever seen, of course... with Val Kilmer's delicious mouth below that mask...
Superman (1978) MIB (1997) X-Men (2000) Batman Begins (2005) The Mask (1994) Iron Man (2008) Blade (1998)
at the movies yesterday they had a new one coming out with the big black monster with a big mouth. looked lame as the rest of them. I think it was "Venom".
