Generic white European. Family rumor has it that the mix is mostly English and German, along with a little bit from France and a couple of Mediteranian countries, but they rarely talked about it. No details. I could research it, but I don't guess it matters.
Really? I would guess that since you interested in history, you would also be interested in your personal background. I'm a mixture of the olive-skinned Europeans and Native American.
It can be tough when your ancestors have been in the US for many generations, most of them in Southern rural areas where the record keeping was not always so good. The number of individuals to be tracked grows exponentially, as you go back further. Besides, what if I found out some of them owned slaves, or strongly supported slavery? If true, I don't know about it yet, and I really don't want to know. I can tell myself that maybe they all knew better. I don't have any racial characteristics that aren't commonly found in English-German mixes. Do you have two teeth that are a lot longer than the others?
White, European mostly Irish with a little bit of Scottish and I think German. I think there's also a tiny bit of Cherokee Native American maybe very far up the family tree. Aryan...
Scottish, English, and Welsh. I guess my ancestors weren't very adventurous as they only married people from the same general area of the world, even after they came to America.
I don't see how it's important, but hey, why not? German on both sides. My claim to fame is that I'm a direct descendant of General Custer - like great great great great great ganddad-or-uncle
Yeah, we found an old handwritten one in my grandmother's house after she died, and HER grandmother was a Custer anyway. We couldn't quite tell what exactly was going on, it was a bit unclear, but he's on there, and as far as we could trace it is pretty direct. I'd have to pull it out of whatever it's stored in to get you the exact number of greats, haha
I would suggest getting a free one-month subscription to Ancestry.com and see how far you can get. Their website does a lot of the work for you.
Northern and Southern Italian. There are streets in Italy with the family name, it dates back to classical antiquity. By reading Italian history book excerpts on the net, and based on the derivation of the family name, I can make a totally mythical stretch back to ancient Troy.
No... Im pretty damn white. My genes are pure. Nothing I can do about it. No pinkish either, im "olive skinned". Im darker than my girlfriend even. And she is non-white. But being white isnt about color, its all about who your daddy and grand daddy, and momma, and grand momma are. They were all white white white.
