I eat anything that is good, i have never had problems with gaining weight..although im starting to think about gaining muscle so i will have to take what i eat under consideration.
Didn't eat red meat for most of my life. During that time I was vegan for a VERY short period of time (not good idea for me). THe rest of the time I ate fish and seafood (and occasionallly eggs and dairy). My dad was a fisherman and seafood has always been a staple. Last year (at age 22) I tried reintroducing red meat. I didn't get sick or anything like some people say, but i also eat it fairly sparingly. I don't think I could do a steak or a burger or anything, but I've had some things with meat in them (soups, pizzas, pasta sauces). I also found that I really like bacon. My arteries could have probably gone my whole life without needing to know that, but so it is.
Actually it is margarine and most vegetable oil that are bad for your arteries as they contain trans fat.
ive been sick so lately it's been fruit, fat free yogurt and cereal w/fat free milk. tonight im trying wonton soup. I had spghetti the other night but it didn't work ouyt so well i woke up very sick. its nice ive lost 40 pounds in a little over a month but id rather not be sick and keep my food down but im still a little chubby so the doctors arent too worried about my weight loss as long as i eat enough to give me enough salt to not get dehydrated. they did give me a pill thats suppossed to give me an appetite but i still cant eat i feel like eating but once the foods in front of me the site and smell makes me sick.
oh and after i get better im going macrobiotic. i wanna be healthy, hopefully stay at the weight im at now and not gain it back and never ever get sick again
I reckon being ill in bed is not always a complete waste of time. It is a time to review my life so far and often I make some new resolutions.
at least 50 percent fruits and vegtables (mostly liqufied) but I aim for 70, 10 percent protein (ie half a balance bar or tofu salad), 10-20 percent whole grains and the rest non-fat dairy, beans, potatoes and then 50 calories of whatever I want...tonight I ate 2 fatfree chocolate cookies, oh and tons of dried fruit my favorite are white figs. Seriously my hairs gotten thicker, skin cleared up feel better, I am suppoessed to be on bed rest the doctors are amzed with how much I am doing already. My liver ensymes are still high but went down 75 percent since i started this liver cleansing diet. I also take milk thistle, echinecia, airborne, algae, powdered greens and chlorophyl and a spoon full of pasturized vitamin e or a tiny bit of olive oil on bread to make sure i get a little fat in each day.
i am mainly carnivorious i very rarely eat fruits and vegetables unless they happen to come with my burger
I don't think I really fit into the categories above. I'm somewhere inbetween, strict vegan and lacto-ovo vegetarian. I avoid eggs, dairy and other less obvious animal by-products most days unless I get food for free. I guess I fall under the category of freegan.
Wow, you guys are so devoted to your particular diets. I admit, I eat meat. I'm a fallen vegatarian, but I eat very little meat so I try not to beat myself up about it. Dairy makes me sick, so I avoid it all together. I love love love veggies. My fave food to prepare is any kind of stir-fry. I'm big on spices and sauces, like curry and terayki. I eat a lot of carrots, asparagas, brocolli and caulifawer (sp?), peas, snow peas, beans (I *heart* green beans!!), cabbage, etc. As for snacks, I admit to eating a little too much junk food, but on the whole, I do pretty well.
I'm trying fairly hard (not tremendously though) to switch to a whole food, organic diet. I'm trying to weed out any processed foods at all if I can help it. Organic food is just so much more expensive and because we put our house on the market this spring, I didn't plant a garden. I will next year hopefully.
OMG so many vegetarians ?? WHY??? you are breaking and killing ur body with all that... HUmans ate meat all their history, and survided, Meat contains hell lots of nutrients, lots of protein. Its the source of lifeu can call it along iwth other main types of food. There always been meat, and now these ppl not eating it because of some stupdi reason..... eh bad for u...
didn't vote. My children and I are on a restrictive diet because of food intolerances. I eat absolutely no gluten (no wheat and certain other grains or ingredients that are made from wheat) and very little sugar. I do my best to only eat whole foods, in other words, it has to either grow or bleed to be considered "food" in my book. Weird chemicals are a big no-no for me, as are ingredients I can't pronounce or don't know where they came from. Pre-packaged food is full of toxic ingredients, and almost always contains wheat in some form, so that stuff is out of the question. Nothing overly refined or processed to the point where it no longer resembles the plant or animal from which it came. I also eat very little dairy and eggs, but I do use them as ingredients when cooking other things. FWIW, BeaverKoffi, most vegetarians are healthier than other people, simply by the fact that they usually pay attention to what they eat and get a very wide range of food items. It's all about variety. Nobody is healthy eating only a few food items all the time. Now, this isn't true for those people who think they can just eat what everyone else is eating without the meat, that's not the right way of going about it, and doesn't offer enough variety to keep the body healthy. But it's still probably better than living off hamburgers and pizza like the majority of young people in our society.
Hmmm... I'm somewhere halfway between lacto-ovo vegetarian & strict vegan. I occasionally eat foods with egg ingredient in them, but I'm lactose intolerant so there's no dairy for me. I also have food sensitivities & true allergies to all sorts of foods, so I'm on a no artificial colors/flavors/preservatives & organic whenever I can diet. I think that eating meat USED to be healthy... before we started adding all sorts of antibiotics to the animals and pumping them full of steroids & other things to make them grow bigger & fatter faster. Now I look at that & wonder if a bag of cheetos might not be the healthier option... at least I know they haven't been drugged! love, mom
mamaboogie- do u have Coeliac Disease ? if no, healthy diet can help to digest ,and ulizite if i said this word correctly. And even in old Adults like you , the meaning and associations with meat comes with pizza, and unhealthy burgers that these days teenages eat. Why it should be liek that ? Meat one of the main parts of dieat and "foods" that ur body needs. I am talkign abotu clean meat, fully coocked, prepared adn eaten with big variety of veggies, popatos, juices, milks and stuff to keep up with ur diet. Simply sayign no to Beef, is a FATAL decision that will make up ur body limit-age and future problems.
