Hmm well i dont really fit any of those listed...

I believe that raw foods must be the healthiest for you in terms of vitamin/nutrient content and that is the way we were supposed to eat food, surely?!

    But...

I dont eat anywhere near 100% raw or even 50% as in todays lifestyle and on my wage it would be practically impossible. But I do tend to try and eat as healthy as possible ...

I have a huge salad each day, mainly with spinach and romaine lettuce and sometimes mackeral or beans either is good. Also it is soaking in extra virgin olive oil.

anyway the main things in my diet are salads, seeds, beans (all different types but i eat more black beans than anything), fish (high omega 3 stuff usually like mackeral, kippers or trout). These are what I try and stick to.

But Im afraid i do drink too much beer for my own good:s (mind you it is quality beer like trappist ales etc [IMG] and to be fair i drink equally as much green tea to compensate [IMG] but also coffee [IMG] but also red wine [IMG]

I try to eat, several kinds of veggies per week, at least one or two fresh fruit, fruit juices and a lot of water/milk, fish twice a month, meat mostly chicken or pork every two days, veal or lamb about once every two weeks, snacks consist of raw veggies or dried fruit, and nuts. whole grains when I can usually with every meal. pop once a week maximum, some baked goods, but always homemade...

My style of eating is seasonal. The body reacts differently depending on the weather conditions of the seasons. Therefore, I only eat the foods that geared for that particular time.

the closest thing to what I eat is the standard American. I eat meat three times a week on average. I dont eat any dairy and i dont like eggs very much, though I'll eat them if they are baked in a pie or cake. I like lots of seafood, rice and veg.

The poll neglected to include Kosher. The biblical dietary restrictions were largely based on respect for the soul/spirit of the animals consumed for food. Animals were to be raised and slaughtered under the supervision of a rabbi, in a manner respectful of their spirit. Pork was forbidden because, then as now, pigs were raised in confined pens while sheep and cattle were pastured in open fields, their natural environment. If a young animal is slaughtered for food, it would be the height of disrespect to garnish it with milk, which is produced by its mother for life, not death.

I like to stick to my own version of the kosher diet: I will only eat meat if it has been hunted in the wild or if I know the farm where it was raised and am confident that it was raised and slaughtered in a manner that is humane, loving, and respectful of its spirit.

We humans have inherited with our place in the animal kingdom a choice, the option to be either herbivores or omnivores. I do not believe one is morally superior to the other. I do believe that to eat meat is to enter into a relationship with another species, and that that relationship is to be honored and respected.

i have been eating an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet for about six years now. i have a mild dairy allergy, so i try to watch my cheese intake & i don't do cow milk. but this time of year, i find myself really craving cheese. i am part of a CSA, so i eat LOTS of fresh organic veggies & grow lots of my own too.
mostly cook all my own meals at home as well. living in the south, it's REALLY hard to eat out as a vegetarian. i feel soooo much better making my own stuff!

I'm an omnivore, but never been too keen on meat, chicken or fish. I can do without them to be honest. Lately I've been eating more veg, particularly onions, peppers, tomatoes and lettuce, my daily salad consists of these vegs. I like bread a lot and have been eating brown bread with sesame seeds and grains, i can't remember what it's called but it's so nice. I got a soya spread for the bread and it's delicious. My main meal is dinner at around 5 pm and will usually have salad and a larger meal made of pasta, tortilla, rice or veg and some meat, depending on the day. My mum and I bought some kefir so from tomorrow we'll be having kefir every morning, it's really good.
oh yeah and i've been almost od-ing on raisings for a couple of months, they are so yummy!!

lacto ovo veggie, but a strict one - no rennet or geletine, and i try to minimise the dairy and eggs i do eat.

but being a penniless student - the menu is mainly things like baked beans, vege curries, the cheap stuff.

I *was* lacto-ovo vegetarian, then suffered for a while with an eating disorder, and now I'm getting back on track with lacto-vegetarian (I'll have, like, cookies that have milk in them but not eggs, but I only drink or bake with soymilk).

You were sending me PM's a couple of years ago preaching fear of how unhealthy my wholefood diet is. Oh well you were only 15yo at the time.

Hey maybe the fact that wholefood omni is not mentioned here shows who is the real hippy. In a way I am more similar to veg*ns in that I don't smoke or drink cola.

I've been raw vegan for about two weeks now. It hasn't been easy. before that I was plain vegan. I've been craving for some nice hot rice and beans for a while... but I'm staying strong. I want to try for at least a month. Then I'll probably go back... but I will definitelly cut down on cooked and processed foods. I've had more energy and felt good with my new diet...
I'ts good to try it out and see how much will power you have.
    Missing my tofu!!!
