A large can be anywhere from 16" to 20" depending on the place

Yea, you may be thinking of a pizza "slice"...when people say a whole pizza they mean the 16-20 inch (diameter) round pizza. Which often has 8-12 slices. I've never even gotten close to eating a whole pizza. maybe my max was like 4-5 slices.
