Well, 8 days shy of being on time, but what are you going to do? I found this thread while going through BraveSirRubin's former posts as he requested I fully read a certain thread (not this one, ofcourse), so I apologize for bumping something so old. I'll start with, nothing is wrong with me. Then, musicians I'd like to see in a bar? Live or dead? Stevie Ray Vaughan, or Shawn Lane. Shawn lane was one of the greatest Jazz fusion players I've ever had the great fortune of hearing play. He was harmonizing with Miles Davis at age 10 and could improvise circles around him. He died six months ago, so being able to see him live shall never happen for me again. All the good ones die young. By the way, you're not necessarily a good musician because you like Jazz, and conversely, you're not a bad musician simply because you dislike Jazz. I used to have a teacher who was a classical/flamenco master, I mean a genius with classical composition, and he despised Jazz. He considered it to be a "boring genre of music". Classical music is 10 times more complex than Jazz, and a lot of times Jazz is very ackwardly dissonant because they don't generally stick to the common guidelines of classical compostion, so it can be a very terrible genre, and I can see how someone of his level could dislike the music. To say you like the Beatles, or any classic rock doesn't predetermine you as a musician and as I've stated before, music is simply opinion.

Anyway, good and understanding people of this board, I would try not to let the "trolls" worry you so much. The psuedointellectuals who believe that what they say holds some precedence on these boards are simply trying to be heard in a world that is otherwise apathetic to what they have to say, and thus, they turn to a computer hoping they can outsmart, outwit and impress someone, anyone at all. If you want them to get bored, just ignore them. I know how hard it is to ignore someone who acts better than you when you see a mistake, blatant error in logic or fallacy in argument. Over the internet it's hard not to become them, hard not to take the opportunity to jam both of their feet in their mouth, if you will, but in order to maintain a level of maturity and moral high ground you have to suppress the desire to jump at that opportunity. I won't name any names, but I really don't have to. The guys know who they are, and are probably at such a level that they're proud of what they do and who they're considered to be on these forums. "Troll" is merely a euphemism for one who posts totally irrelevant, less-than-amusing comments or spews insults for the sake of being heard.

Troll - this is not a title I would be proud to bestow upon myself. Simply put, if you want your boards back, you have to stop fueling the people who are making the boards less than entertaining and fun. This is a fairly simple process. Example: Troll makes a childish remark several times, no one says anything in response, and thus, the young man gets bored out of his wits and finds fodder elsewhere, fodder that is much more willing to acknowledge him. It's that simple folks! Hopefully we can see it in action here over the next couple of days.
