What's up around here in the past few years?

I actually had a love hate thing with GLM , so it honestly wasnt meant as an insult....he felt the same towards me....he was actually funny in an annoying kind of manner

 

I miss Dr. Droop , he was actually a funny guy....I laughed so hard at his interaction with Climbing Arms Of Ivy and German Love Machine...those threads HAVE to be Hip Forum Classics !!

 

a lot of the perceived insults are just inside jokes

thats why there's often tons of misunderstandings when a newer member becomes a moderator

 

i just find human beings curious creatures.

all people do is share meme's.

There are a lot of insults, too, because on this forum we tend to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of all of our members...whether it be in debates or angry posts...we all tend to air out some dirty laundry.

When I joined, though, this place was less "new member friendly" than it is now...if you can believe that...haha. No new member was taken seriously at all, so that's why I disappeared for a while a few times...I was getting bashed for every opinion I had because "I didn't know anything."

its gotten much better over the years, though. I always try to be nice to new members because I know what it feels like to be "internet hated." hahaha

EDIT: And if I wasn't getting bashed, I was getting all kinds of sex messages from people on here wanting to see me on webcam and whatnot. I'm glad that's been cracked down on too

 

people confuse insults with simple disagreement i find.

 

I miss the days when RT and SL rivaled in maintaining the most active threads on the front page.

Posts like Captain Cannabis' retarded weekend adventures.

When I first came around was around Soaring Eagle's last flight. Lots of pedobear pics to be seen. Lots of flame threads, and a lot of fun. I think the forums have softened up and it's gotten lamer because of it.


There is a lot of shit tossed around on these forums, always has been. It seems there are more n00bies looking for the "hippies" and getting mad about being flamed and whatnot.

Sometimes I feel like I'm still a n00ber, but then I look and I've been here a total of 5 years with my first handle...kinda weird.

There have been a lot of users banned and a lot that have pretty much disappeared. I imagine these things happen all the time on internet forums. It will be interesting to see what kind of people stay through to see another 10 years.

I took a long hiatus after 07. I just came back a little over a year ago.
Other than Pressed Rat I'm probably one of the oldest members.

 

I've not been insulted here but maybe I'm too dumb to realize. I remember in 08 I was criticized For my spelling problems but that was it people are generally nice here

I've been on here for 11 years, although I was a more prolific poster under another user name.

For me the highlight of these forums was the 2001-2004 period. The reign of Smokey420, bird_migration, Greatwok, among many others who I have forgotten now.

I am intrigued to hear that newbies have to wait a while to be 'accepted' here these days? Surely it's the quality of the posts vs the quantity that counts? There are some people here with thousands of posts who really don't seem too bright at all.

Is Trish going to come back and check on this thread? Does anyone know? Hope she does, would be nice to have her back.
