What's the protocol when an elderly loved one asks for punk rock music suggestions?

Okay, so S isn't related to me, she's a former art prof from my first time around in college. But Mum-in-Law and I have been friends with her for over 20 years. She's in her 70s now, and her YouTube recommendations introduced her to The Offspring... and she loves them. And she asked me to recommend more punk music to listen to.

Like... what... do I start soft and work up to political protests, or go straight to the screaming rage punks? More or less profanity? What's the etiquette here?

In that vein, I'd start her off with artists like Green Day, Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, Ramones, and The Toy Dolls.

Maybe Bad Religion, Filter, and L7 later on if she digs it. She was young once too and has grown up seeing a lot of musical and societal changes.

Not to mention a lot of the og bands are senior citizens themselves.

Those older ladies knew what was up. I bet she'd appreciate some riot grrrl. Bikini Kill and Bratmobile seem like ideal starting grounds. OMG The Linda Lindas. Please play her The Linda Lindas!
