So Long Astoria by The Ataris .. for some reason I just love that album.. reminds me of driving around California aimlessly while in college
^ not sure if I've heard the whole album, but sounds very familiar I've been on a Blink182 bender of late, but oddly, the LAST full album was Pretty Hate Machine by NIN. Lol Also good, but different.
Gosh that is a good question. I would have to say it was a copy of Kiss's Destroyer on vinyl. I got it used at a yard sale and it was surprisingly in great shape.
I picked up some early INXS lp's from a local 2nd hand record shop. Very different to the Kick- onwards period, but some great tracks there too, if you like early 80s alternative new wave-ey type stuff.
Blue, Joni Mitchell. People rave about it... Apart from a few favorites like California I find the album difficult to listen to with all the off-key tunings and weird sounds. She is a brilliant writer and musician, but this is not her best work. I would vote for The Hissing of Summer Lawns over this one any day. Blue (Joni Mitchell album) - Wikipedia
The Garth Brooke’s box set such an awesome performer I can’t think of a bad song that he has other then his Chris gains album
I just discovered Two Feet a few weeks ago, and ...Oh My God! (Hope that doesn't sound gay, but his music requires some kind of exclamation of emotion!) My wife and I drove up through the mountains to some hot springs and I introduced her to it by playing his album, Album (Mejores canciones). She loved it too and it set a very interesting existential mood for the 3 hour drive. The first night I heard it, a French girl on instagram introduced me to it. I thought it was some French band and pulled up the song, Go F Yourself, on YouTube. I was about to go to bed, but instead spent the rest of the night listening to songs and reading comments on YouTube. When I did fall asleep I had dark dreams, including one of the dysfunctional life I would have had if I had gone into music rather than the stock market (Yeah, I'm sure I would have had to struggle with a fast-paced self-destructive spiral of drugs and sex, for the same reason that, in the stock market I had a very 'exciting time,' through all my 20's, and married my 'spicy' mistress. ...Yeah my first wife was not a keeper anyway, you know.) I didn't think anything good would ever come out of New Jersey, but Two Feet, even as his music hints to all that is bad about New Jersey, is incredible. People describe him as drawing off of all kinds of genres of music. I was trying to figure out myself, what is this? When I woke up that next morning after listening all night, I immediately realized what it was---a pop blues on a slightly subdued dubstep foundation. Or you could say, a new genre of stripper music.
