lisen dude your prob right as far simple analogy but at 16 in 1972 i saw great bands for a lousy $6.50 per ticket. i heard and cought the end of the 60s. so im not speaking out of my ass. i saw black sabatth twice among other things 1972 and 1973 . quicksilver messager service & chambers brothers , Ten Nugent and the amboy dukes, so i knew what the fuck was going on between 1966 and now. emerson lake & palmer, Chuck Berry, i was glue to the radio beside going to any good concert in town. and buying albums and 8 tracks.
i saw alice cooper last killer tour and billion dollar babie in 1973. jethru tull , and few others more. between 1975 and 1980 music was in bad shape with the crap disco shit on shove down our throats by the TV and movie industry until finally we got fed up.
by 1980 the only old band or artist making a few noise was = David Bowie , Queen, some of Mick J& stones tunes wish were rather lighweights considering the stones 60s and early 70s works . Van Halen did not last long enough with diamond Dave. but at least Van Halen did give the early 80s some momentum along with some of the early metal bands and punk bands but nothing with the power of the 1966 thru 1972 3/4 era .
I especially liked the last 5-15 years of music because that is what was current at the time of my childhood. Hip hop and gangster rap was gettting bigger and better, and it was a real trip to watch it grow into what it is today. Most music follows the same lines, just like history. I voted 90-95, but i also loved 65-70 because that is what i grew up listening too besides NWA, Tupac, etc. Alot of the mainstream power bands saw their peak in the late 60's-early 70's. Too many spectacular albums to count, but only because there was such a bigger abundance of mainstream music. This may or may not have been due to the "increase" in drug use, but alot of bands seemed to hit their peak and make kick ass music. Alot of poeple on this website seem to enjoy the 60's-70's era of rock, but several seem to blatantly shun all other forms of music. This is incredibly depressing to me, seeing as there is so much good music out there, even today, as long as you keep an open mind. Current hip hop or rock or etc. may not appeal to you as much as the not as recent versions, but artists are still making great music with great meaning, you just need to read between the lines.
