I see a lot of this on here, and in real life. I always wonder, what do people have to gain from judging others? Who gives a shit what they wear? What their face looks like? If they're fat? If they're skinny? If they have tattoos? If they don't?

What is there to gain from that way of thinking? I suppose I'm blessed with a serious lack of fucks. Are happy with the way you look/dress? Then great! Good for you! Go on with your bad self! :sunny:

I've thought of that as being a possibility. It's a good point. I think it also might stem from a false sense of superiority.

There is none...I don't judge people

I don't pay attention to things I don't like....if people don't like me they don't pay attention to me but I've done some crazy ass shit in public and no one cares...some people like it and some don't

I'm never trying to hurt anyone so if somebody don't like me they can just leave me be, and I'll be me....and they can do what they do and it's all cool.. :)

I agree, there is none. "I don't pay attention to things I don't like." I wish there were more people who had that way of thinking.

I really try to be non-judgemental.I try not to judge people on looks.I enjoy seeing and try to respect the Muslims with veils.I like black guys...Well most of them have never given me too much trouble.Young hoodies gathered on street corners can unnerve me,but what's the worst that could happen? I have an "I'm okay" if 'You're okay" approach, and try to send out non-fearful vibes when I'm out and about on the streets.I am rather a conservative dresser myself, but I don't like to draw attention to myself.Sometimes I admit I get a bit jealous of young people who really express themselves with their clothes, like Goths and Punks.I just don't want to be one of those though.I have pretty hippy philosophy but I don't go out of my way to look like one, although I do have a few items of "out there" clothing.I try to respect people on trust that they will mean me no harm, and so far it is working.

I've had judgmental moments, but I try really really hard to suppress it.

I've been judged for pretty much everything. My weight, my piercings, my tattoos, my hair color. People will always find something to bitch about.

I just don't see the point in it all.

Getting angry and being judgmental are different. You can have one without the other. That reminds me of people who get into a disagreement, and randomly say, "well you're fat!" Or whatever other type of insult when it has nothing to do with the conversation. So ignorant.

Everyone wants to be judged, but only in the way they deem most favorable. We say the word judgemental as a negative word. But never when one says, "She looks great," do we say, 'They're being judgemental.' We say, they're being complimentary because we deem that judgement favorable.

See, we want love, praise, attention and compliments because it makes us feel good. But we don't call those judgements judging. Only the comments we don't like.

It's the failure to recognize truth and the constant desire for praise and the inability to see all comments (good and bad) as judgement that lead us to call another judgemental.

Good comments = compliments. Bad comments = judgemental. When the truth doesn't benefit us, we give it a negative spin. A biblical label.

There's a difference between constructive criticism and being judgmental, IMO. I'm not saying we should live in this fluffy world of puppies and rainbows, but there's nothing wrong with sharing positivity.

    Positivity is wonderful and healthful.

But, often times the truth is deemed "judgemental". The benefit? The truth is it's own benefit.

What about the motivation behind the truth? Who is benefiting from the truth being used as an insult?

Have you ever seen someone, anyone, fall down and get hurt. And you laughed.

Or a person farted in public and was embarrased, and you laughed.

Or someone ever did anything at all that compromised their image in any way, shape or form, and you thought it was funny, shared a joke, or made a comment.

We are all benefiting from the truth being used as an insult. We laugh. Laughter is medicine, laughter is enjoying life. We benefit from laughter.

People make George W Bush jokes. We laugh.

People make fun of Vanilla Ice. We laugh.

People put down Kim Kardashian. We laugh.

These are all judgements passed and passed onto us in which we share the benefit of the humour had at the expense of the recipient in which their integrity as a this or a that is being called into question. Being judged.

Although I tend to put forward my more positive side on Hip Forums.Sometimes I can be a real bullshitter.Upon reflection I find myself being judgemental all the time. But I do try really hard not to.It's just some people give off bad vibes to me sometimes, and than I kind of hate them for a few seconds, then move on with my groceries or whatever Im doing. It's such an exhausting way to live, this constant polarity.Am I good person am I a bad person. Is that guy giving me a bad look.Oh screw it.You gotta just let people be people.

I did reread it because you asked and to be sure I wasn't missing something.

I think what you may be over looking is that all judgement is one and the same. Period. It's the same act. For the sake of the conversation, think to yourself, 'Have I ever laughed at someone else's misfortune?'

Now, why was it funny? Because it illustrated a lack of faculty.

Now, if I see a person with blue hair and lots of tattoos and I think, "What a skid." Why am I thinking that? Because their appearance illustrates a lack of faculty in my opinion.

Judgement is all the same. The degrees may vary but it's all the same condition.
