Sure you can dread using wax. As long as you don't use too much your dreads will come out nice and tidy albeit a bit waxy looking. If you like tidy maintained dreads, then great. I personally hate the look of maintained dreads and think it completely defeats the purpose of dreading hair. I love the wild untamed look of natural locks. But to each his own. I do agree with dragonvine though about the noob dread statement. I used to think dreads were supposed to be all nice and round and vanilla looking because of people and pictures I'd seen. Honestly, that's what originally turned me off to dreads, all the maintenance I thought you had to put into them to get this rope shit that didn't even look like hair anymore.
tbh ive not watched the video and wont,it just gives this dude more views on his youtube account and he sounds like a twat anyways(but I just wanted to say my views on wax anyways)
I've never root rubbed but I've seen people do it and I don't understand how it can make your hair look more maintained? Wouldn't just tying it up and putting some aloe on them to tame frizz if you have any work? I also think that maintaining dreads kind of defeats the point but of course, each to their own.
We'll the root rubbing helps me, because it tangles up so it flows with the dreadies. My hair grows fast, and root rubbing helps tighten the top. N yes i do use Aloe for the frizzies, when i had my interviews.
Wax is unnecessary, but if you want to use it go ahead, just don't overdo it. And document your experience with it so you can comment on it. I don't think there are enough personal experiences on the net of people who have used it and kept their dreads for a longer period of time.
I met a guy not too long ago who had 7 year wax dreads... course he had stopped waxing quite a while back. Another guy I know used wax and his dreads were teh stinky
Btw OP, I probably should add I wasn't advocating the use of wax. I personally think it sucks balls, but if you've read what other peple say about and still feel you want to use it, then fuck what anyone else thinks. Just be aware (as I expect you probably already are) you're likely to get some flak for using it, especially if you announce it on dreadforums...
dread fail= starting locks while looking for employment when you believe that having said locks will hinder your chances of employment
also that comment in the "letter to employer" about african americans is fuuuuuucked up. waht a fucking joke. he calls "natural" dreads dreds that use product to "help locking". oh geez louise.
I sometimes get denied job applications so I kinda just stopped trying. But there are jobs out their customer service jobs like Convergys where you sit around for 10 hours taking phone calls and get probably like 600 every 2 weeks. I still prefer to make money other ways :cheers2: either way wax is a dead end path but do what you want to do. Seems you got everyone's opinion on it though.
