Absoloutly, but I'am accepting of those who don't use wax, I never did. I just don't think those who use it should get flamed. That's all. I definetly wouldn't tell someone to leave. I talk shit out.
That dude in the video is a fuckin pig. How dare they try to make money off of a natural process. Waxy dreads look like turds, no shape at all just wet turds. And by using it you are supporting these PIGS who want to exploint something beautiful and natural by making money off it. Grow some dignity instead of waxy fake dreads.
I just didnt really put the whole wax thing together until now. Like come on, your really a douche bag if your going to support these pigs by putting wax in your hair. Im glad I got a head of nattyness. And to OP- That video convinced you to use wax? Are you retarded? Well I guess their marketing scheme works on some people.
@Wild-Flowers - Finally someone's speaking some sense! It's refreshing to hear that someone else thinks people shouldn't get flamed for trying something out / going a different method of dreading. If you check the date you'll find out that I posted that over a year ago and yeah I was nieve cause I've never had dreads before so I googled it and guess what came up. I also managed to find this site but fuck me sorry for asking. There was me thinking it was good to ask questions cause that's normally how you find shit out. And if you read the whole thread you'll find out what my final verdict was. And anyway, how long has this been stickied for?
Wax prevents your hair from knotting...plain and simple. It also attracts all kinda of debris, lint, etc. The key to great dreads is adopting a washing routine that will keep your hair free of grease and leaving your hair the hell alone. Don't run your fingers through the hair shafts and only separate if the congos get too big. A wool sweater over your pillow, a wool hat from time to time and a salt water spray or swim in the ocean may help a little bit, but basically it's leaving your hair the fuck alone and keeping your scalp clean. If there's too much "maintenance" going on, then you're getting away from what dreads are all about...which, is letting nature taking its course and being the most simple hair style known to modern man, caveman, rasta and Viking.
