I almost always kiss women on the cheek, especially if it's women I already know. If we just met I'll usually start with a handshake.
miss roamy from somewhere in my memory i undersood that a handshake was showing no weapon in hand. a handshake is almost always right handed and most people are right handed. im sure ranger has some thoughts on this
now all I can think of when picturing people shaking hands is politicians... even if someone has a firm handshake, who is to say that his person can be trusted? a handshake can be decieving..
i do find it interesting to watch how the handshake is evolving into bumping knuckles. perhaps its a sanitary thing and predominant amoung young men. anyone have thoughts about this???

I think a firm handshake does make a statement. In a professional setting it is still just an accepted form of greeting. If it does not happen it tends to raise flags. Socially it is also still an accepted form of greeting and the same applies regarding a firm handshake. I rather like the tradition.
Maybe it's just me but I'm never in situations where a handshake can make or break a situation... in fact, job interviews are about the only place I ever shake hands. I try to give a firm but not rough handshake.. just..medium. But in any case, I never shake hands. I've noticed that if someone shakes my husband's hand, I'll get a hug. Or hug me first- then shake Dan's hand. It just always happens that way- with male family members... with male friends that have been both mine and Dan's friend for years and years.. With females we usually both just get a hug. But with males, it's shake Dans hand, hug me.
This is the only acceptable handshake anything less and I find the person untrustworthy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeDaFaDKloM"]Best Handshake of All-Time - YouTube
 word. mans I thought they were gonna start tap dancing there near the end. what a shame they didn't. I like tap dancing.
The worst thing is going to shake another mans hand and it's all soft and clammy. Right away I think yeah, that guy can't do shit for himself. Sometimes I'll be talking to a client and my hands are greasy. They'll go to shake my hand and I'm like you don't want to shake my hand and hold it out so they can see it, and then I'm like elbow and bump elbows. Knuckles is big around here always has been. You can tell when the person is a kook that way, kind of like how a weak handshake tells you they have no backbone.
