Taxi drivers here are fucking brainless. You can give them your exact address and share your GPS location with them and they still get lost in their own city. I don't understand how this is even possible.

EDIT: Damn, I'm a sour puss. Gonna drink tonight with a buddy from Uzbekistan when I return to civilization. That'll rid me of these petty woes.

EDIT 2: 20 minutes into the taxi ride, the driver miraculously speaks some English. “What time is your plane?”, “Where are you from?”, “Welcome to Baotou”.

Now I feel bad for the first post...

 

On the way home, I was listening to the radio and this DJ made this atrocious mistake. He said the wildfire was in Ventura county, which is where the shooting was. The wildfire is like 8 hours North in Butte (yes that's the name) County.

 

Actually reading some more, maybe there was a Ventura County fire too but the one he described was the Northern California one.

 

There is one here. It's in Newbury Park, which is also where the shooter Ian David Long was from. We are having a shit time, as I can see they are up near Chico, CA (Butte).

I feel really lousy about all this stuff happening in California.

"Camp Fire"...

 

That happened back in September too. We couldn't even drive home. We were in Oregon and had to swing all the way out to Nevada because the freeway was closed. On the news, people were leaving their cars and trucks behind...just abandoning them to the fire. It was sad to see.

 

That's insane. Almost right where the shooting took place. Bad day for the Thousand Oaks area....bad day for CA.
