Yeah, since primary school I remember intelligence and "poshness" being mocked together. Like, if you're intelligent you must be posh and posh is bad.

I always wondered if there was less of this in America because you can be held back a grade.

Listening to the new Metric while eating a breakfast burrito. I'm going to end up late for work though.

    Posh isn't a thing here.

You can be called "Rich and Stuck Up".

Does intelligence come into it at all?

Do you think school age kids in America see intelligence as desirable?

I think there are a number of them who see it as the only road to success.

I also think there are a number of them who do not care to succeed. They've seen adults "getting by" on laziness so they don't aspire to more.

I really have no idea what percentages prevail. I'm afraid it's the latter, though.

I do think "Nerd Culture" has been in fashion.

That wasn't the case in my generation.

Oh yeah, because of Big Bang theory and stuff. They still mock intelligence of that though.

Maybe geek is becoming a fashion without any of the mindset that created it... Like punk and hippie

You work in a shop? I keep imagining you hunched over a glass counter with your phone, waiting for customers...

Well it's a wooden counter and I alternate between phone, book and sudoku (sometimes notebook too), and I don't hunch because I learned a few years ago that improving my posture improved my confidence : )

Otherwise your image is probably fairly accurate?
