I have a question for those of you who were not using the internet and over age 20 at the time. Say you got invited to or wanted to go to a restaurant that you had never been to before...

How did you find out the information on price, proper attire, etc?

Lol gb arent you the same age as me, you cant be that dependent on the internet

I've had the internet since I was 12 but didnt start using it for restaurants and stuff like that until I got a smart phone when I was 26 or 27. So my early to mid twenties just involved a lot of walking past restaurants to scope it out and read the menu posted outside the door. Which almost all restaurants post a menu outside. If they dont have one posted they're probably too expensive

@Orison got what I was asking with my question. I didn't mean restaurants you walked by but those that might be on another side of town or required planning or something.

I don't like it when people watch me eat. It's a pet hate of mine. It's like I do odd things or something. Lol. I see them looking at the menu looking at my food, does it look good, should we go in? And then they walk away which leaves me thinking..wtf is wrong with my food lol.

    I really am though...

I felt like maybe the first 4-5 years of driving age I didn't rely on the internet for restaurants and such but in that time I practically always went to restaurants that me and my friends grew up on, or if we went to San Francisco or Berkeley or something just wandered and found places.

When I moved at 21, I used the internet to find restaurants.

I still only mildly rely on the Internet for restaurant advice. First off, many reviewers are fake. Second your tastes might be different, thirdly the reason for a negative review for you may be different than mine.
So...I look at specifics being spoken. Aka, adjectives like great the best horrible or the worst.. they mean nothing. I want facts. Was your steak cooked right. Was there steak sauce? Just tell me why you liked or didn't like the place

This is really simple... Don't go to fuckin restaurants.

Have you ever seen the condition of those kitchens? Or the food?

I'll check out the star rating and make sure there's enough posts about the place to get a general gauge if that star rating is reliable. (I.e. I'll put more weight in a 4 star review with 100 responses rather than a 4 star review with 5 response) but I don't really read the written reviews much.

I'm thinking more in terms of the formalities of a place like the pricing, dress attire, specials/events on certain days, etc.
