I hate those. Step outside and breath some fresh air. Turn on all the lights and a comedy or happy music.

    Thanks guys.

I have been having them pretty much every night for the last 2 weeks. This one was about being locked in a house and unable to get out.

I'm having tea in the garden now. Just fed up of them every night :(

This is how I learned to work out dreams.

Explain your dream as if you're explaining it to someone from another planet who knows nothing about anything here.

    You're locked in a house.

    What is a house?

What does being locked in mean?

    Etc.

Now, look at the things you've said.

What are the similarities between what you've described and something that's going on with you in real life?

That's probably a good way of looking at them. I've tried re-scripting, but it doesn't make them any better.

I just watched an hour long video of this family going on a treasure hunt, with clues, in the coolest house!

Whoever made all the secret mechanisms and compartments, wrote the clues, etc. (I suspect Grandpa and Grandma) did a truly amazing job.

Now, I want to start working on doing this to my house for my family!

they do mightily suck. you have my empathy... I have ptsd and I can pretty well count on one to three a week I can't rescript through lucid dreaming. that is.. when I can sleep.

if you ever need someone to vent to about them, you can convo me. I might not be able to give you advice on curing it. (because, you know.. I'm failing at it myself) but sometimes just someone talking normal to you for a while can help.

Admirable approach as any I suppose...

I think for many proponents of dream interpretation, to derive meaning from dreams, the objects that are dreamt and perceptions experienced often aren't meant to be taken literally. For instance, being locked in a house potentially could have something to do with her constraints at her work or something along those lines. There are common thematic elements in dreams, such as a house, which serve as more of a visual basis for emotive or structural aspects of the waking world. But then again, this presumes that the unconscious mind manifests that level of nuance and complexity in dreams, which I, myself, am skeptical about.

On the flipside, dreams might essentially be mostly random noise that we attempt to stitch together upon waking.

I don't buy into the one size fits all dream interpretation.

For instance, a house might be a safe protective environment for one person but for someone else it might be a frightening place where they feel trapped and unsafe.

I have a dream that's very much resisted interpretation.

My girlfriend at the time was kidnapped by angry pixies, and to get her back I had to make the french suffer for their crimes by painting the Eiffel tower pink with cake frosting, and the only thing I could find to use was a giant 2m novelty toothbrush. Well, I was running out of frosting but a large frog with a backwards baseball cap with a cigar and the voice of joe pesci helped me out by chewing up cars, trees and bits of scenery and throwing up into the bucket of frosting, where it turned into more. Well, I painted the tower, the pixies were pleased, the french were offended, so I went home with the frog riding on my head, and when I got there I had to go to work, which was a newspaper office, and the circulation manager there was being beaten up by an elf, so I said 'fuck this' and left, going to my other job which was pizza delivery, and I had to take a catfish and gouda pizza to the kremlin, but I had to deliver it on foot because all the bicycles were infested with snakes, and when I finally made it there after a month's walking, with the frog still riding on my head and eating snow to keep me warm, they told me that they weren't going to take the pizza because it didn't have olives on it. So I set a trashcan on fire and went to england, where I went fishing with a corgi and pulled up a magical pike that gave me a dollar bill and told me my girlfriend had been trying to call me for a while because she had to go to the moon and for me to make my own plans for dinner. And then I sneezed and woke up.
