Yeah, of you're from there and have an ear for the accent, you catch the subtleties that most people can't hear. I've been on the phone with customer support people before and could tell they were from coastal New England.

Funny this is though, everyone back home thinks I talk like I'm from California and everyone from California thinks I talk like I'm from New England.

I have an identity crisis now...

It has its roots on the English accent that influenced speech on the Northeast. There are pockets in the south where the dialect is very similar to the Brahmin Boston Accent

 

Yeah, that's what I took last night.

I use to take an aspirin a day but I developed a sensitivity. Aspirin makes me itch.

 

I went to Ancestry and briefly looked at their family history. I got to a maternal grandfather from Alabama. Other than that, they are all from Georgia on the mother's side, which I thought might have the biggest influence on how these two speak.
