    I need advice

I realized while stripping the kitchen cabinets of paint so I can stain them (which is the most demoralizing thing I've ever done by the way, stripping paint) that the previous owners of this house were cheap and all the cabinet doors and drawers are made of particle board and not wood, so I cant stain them

I'll replace them with wooden doors and drawers one day but cant afford it at the moment
So how ridiculous do you guys think it would look to stain the cabinets and paint the doors for the time being? Like I was thinking maybe a darker stain and white doors? Would that look dumb?

    SOS please advise!

    woah. sucky...

well, you're stuck with it huh? Do what you want & be artistic! It's your house.

My mom just sewed a tablecloth and when it was done she was afraid that it looked bad on her table because the border she sewed on was dark. I told her it looked great with the contrast! And it does. But the point is that it's your place, and as such you can do absolutely anything you want. I wouldn't do anything that will hurt your eyes though. I don't know that my advice is worth anything, but here goes... I would choose something that looks like what you might see in another home, or a model home.

This is sort of the problem, I looked it up online and couldnt find an example of stained cabinets and painted doors anywhere so it appears I'm going into uncharted territory lol

But I have a sort of quirky style anyways and a lot of times people will think an aesthetic I want to do sounds weird but if I can see it in my head it almost always ends up looking really good in reality. And I can sort of see this in my head, I think it might look okay. So I guess I'll go for it and see what happens

I have seen stained doors on painted cabinets, not sure I've seen the other way around. Color choice would make or break the look... you have to hit just the right contrast between stain and solid color.

Just for future knowledge... If you get new doors and drawer fronts in the future, the cabinet faces are usually covered with a matching wood laminate so it all matches. Paint on the frames now will not affect/effect what happens in the future.

In short... paint everything now would be the easiest thing to do.

    Well
I was halfway through the stripping (of the paint, pervs :p ) before I realized the doors arent wooden, I would have just repainted everything if I knew going into it...but now I've put way too much time into stripping the paint so there's no going back now lol. And I wouldnt want to cover them with wood laminate, they have a really nice grain to them

I figure I'll just get unstained wooden doors one day and stain them to match. When I have mo money
    Mo problems

You might want to go with an off-white or cream in the tone of the wood; not a bright white. It would be groovy.

We had a fabulous time at Atlanta Pride!

I stood up for hours and hours, walked, danced, cheered and smiled. My feet and legs are throbbing.

We got so much swag! It's all layed out, and hung out, to dry.

It rained the whole time we were there which was more than 5 hours.

It hasn't rained here in over 90 days so we all just enjoyed being sopping wet and happy.

I still have to gather some clothes and toiletries for my Gray-cation. I always procrastinate about packing.

Oh! I met my daughter's boy friend. I really, really like him alot and I'm so happy that he's here and a super huge comfort and support for my daughter!

I have things to do. I don't dare stop moving for too long. Thankfully, It's time that I can take some anti-inflammatory medication...

I removed all the paint from my cabinets before painting them again and they were solid wood... About 1/2 of them would have been really fugly stained even though they are solid maple.

I had removed all the cabinets for refinishing, moved them around and added a few/deleted a few because I got some of the same brand, same style, but different sizes, angled corner units. etc. at a ReStore. (We are talking late 40's - early 50's original to the home) Finding those cabinets was a fluke.

  11. I would leave them as they are. They'll be a good reminder that you need new ones. Plus, you never know when someone might stop by and say, "Oh, I happen to know someone giving away free cabinets and such."

I just really don't like it when people try to fix cheap things. Definitely don't try to stain particle board. Paint it all that shitty color of green that used to be so popular in the sixties.

My grandson, my daughter's boyfriend, and a local radio personality. He asked to take the pic and said he'd put it on the radio's website in the morning. He just sent it to me.

    Stupid hot dogs.

I'm taking them off my list. I've been suffering for hours. This is the third time in a row that they've hurt me.

    Hot Dog, You're outta here!

Now, hopefully tummy will let me grab 4 hours of sleep.

    Good to see you, Irmi.

In the centre of the town, right outside a big shopping mall there is a hot-dog stand. The mall is on the main thoroughfare through the town and a major bus stop. Not that long ago, whilst sitting in the bus shelter across from the hot-dog stand whilst waiting for my bus, the wind was blowing in the right direction and I had the smell of frying onions and hot-dog sausages - it was delightful !!!

Mm hot dog stand. I feel like eating all the yum food I didn't eat while camping but I tell ya what I made these awesome pizzas on the fry pan. I just needed a lid and low flame to capture the heat and melt the cheese. Bottom came out so crispy and awesome and come to think of it... No tummy aches either. Nice! Then we made some rissole rolls with bacon and cheese sometimes. We had heaps of my special marinated pork chops which everyone complimented the smell while cooking but we did pizza most often lol. And also a few pasta and veges dishes.

We ate really well and when you're camping, it doesn't have to be sauases every time lol. Hell no we only did that once. I can whip up almost anything now that I have the right equipment.

Next year we're going to get a camping fridge that runs off a battery. I'm going to buy 2 more batteries so I'll have 3. 1 for fridge, 2 for personal use. I only needed one battery this year but we had some good sunny days for solar charging.

So fridge, lights and a new tent. Probably slightly smaller I feel and more wind resistant with a vertical sipper door cause half circle is annoying when you gotta take a wizz. :p

Instead of the traditional 'Sunday roast' yesterday, instead I made myself a spicy pork pilaff - the smell of curry and spices permeated the whole flat as it was cooking, it was fabulous !!!
