Sesame Street would be JUST the kids show to have gay characters. I think I'm correct in saying the south African version has an HIV positive puppet? And there's a foster child puppet. They are just the show to introduce homosexuality in order to help kids understand it.

 

Which is one of its strong points. I fucking love Sesame Street. I remember them showing a video of saxophones being made in a factory.

I believe they feature a character with 2 moms now, but I could be wrong. I vaguely remember hearing something about that though

 

Puppets can be very informational

 

Fact is that wasn't a part of Bert & Ernie before other people projected it on it.

I watched it most of my youth on a daily basis and never noticed gay info or hints. The producers didn't say shit about the nature of their relationship until pressured by others

I dont think it's any sort of serious projection with Bert and Ernie, mostly people are just joking.

But if they did decide to introduce gay characters it certainly wouldnt be a big deal, it would simply be a reflection of the reality kids live in

 

People made it a big deal. Not Sesame street. I agree it doesn't have to be a big deal if everyone could handle it normally. But it seems lots of people can't. Both pro and anti btw.

 

Back when Bert and Ernie were first around it wouldn't have been so acceptable to depict them as gay, but I don't see why it might not be a case of the creators just putting that there to normalize the concept of two adult men cohabiting.

 

Watch the Sesame Street often skipping thru channels. I dont get any agenda out the program. Kids will meet all types of people on the street, as the puppets characters become more commons to the current times.
This the cast I grew up with .. I was raised by Black, Hispanics, Asians and a bunch of psychedelic puppets. Of course it only looked psychedelic because of the antenna tv we had then.. wiggly wiggly..


I cant tell you the names of the people anymore. But I do know Chris cause hes the one that ill mostly see when channel changing. I believe there is an Asian store keep too.

 

It looks like its kept all open. Wether they're adults or not (i would personally have assumed not. It's more like 2 boys living in an adult situation. An if thought about and taken rigidly too serious nonsensical situation. Which shouldn't matter either, as its an innocent and unpretentious kids show), wether they are gay or not, etc.
It's certain adult viewers who care about this issue who insisted its either so or so and pressured for official clarity. Totally unneccesary imo
