Went in the shed and there was spider website everywhere but no spiders. I think the crickets ate them because there was about a hundred of them on the far wall of the shed. And they were all big bugs. No babies. Usually I might see 2 crickets or a spider. Never nothing like that.

It's felt so much cooler in the house today.

I guess it's because there is less humidity outside.

broinlaws neighbors are old people.. they had a back light on for a couple weeks now.. probably didnt even know it was on, 150watt burning 24/7.. so I jumped the fence and unscrewed it. feeling confident they wouldnt want that on their bill for a whole month or longer.

My son brought over about a 12 ft. section from an oak tree that got uprooted in his yard.

Yay! That ought to keep hubby busy for a minute.

Hey, Ty... I happened to "run across" something you can decorate your yard with for Halloween.

No, he was just a regular brown, furry caterpillar.

Actually they are poisonous to most other animals because they eat milkweed... The colors clue in birds that a Monarch Caterpillar would not be a tasty snack. The antenna on each end is for fooling insect predators like Wasps.

If it's furry it's most likely a moth...

    Well, I'll be...

    You're right.

It's an Eastern Tent Caterpillar which turns into a brown moth.

Here I was, for my whole life, believing those turned into butterflies.

    I'm disappointed.

So I got a section behind my bedroom mulched today... about 30 feet by 4 feet. That area isn't going to be planted so I have 20 year landscape fabric laid down and a weed deterrent under that with 2 inches + of black mulch. (so much for most of that mulch I bought yesterday.)

Laid down a few more stones in the pathway too. One part of the path is wandering along the edge of that large mulched area mentioned above, so I need to get most of those stones down before the next windstorm.

Then I did some dry laid brick work around the two Blue Arrow Junipers I planted last month.... defining that entryway into the meditation garden. Sort of like two rounded brick planters built into the slope those trees are planted on. but they aren't really round. Asymmetrical symmetry. Then mulched inside them.
